Turning the damn farms into BoS property, so we don't get defending settlement every 5 minutes. They need to adjust it, especially Garvey, but removing it from our control is a really good perk.

Disagreed, tbh.
The defenses are the necessary investment for something that can completely dominate the economic and crafting aspect of the game (combined settlements providing the player with so many resources he eventually only needs to ever loot rare crafting materials). At the same time, the frequency and the time given to respond could be adjusted.
I had one give me the notice it was under attack when I finished loading into Boston Airport, then I walk up to Proctor Ingram to turn in a quest before fast traveling over to the town, and the defense fails before the conversation finishes. Less than three minutes. That was a town with 120+ points in defense.
Agreed on the timing thing. I got a notification midway through clearing out a dungeon and it failed before I got to the end. Now, I don't bother defending most settlements. I have 2 or 3 settlement with anything worth defending and they get tons of turrets to try to avoid them getting attacked. All the farms I just ignore, maybe 3 or 4 turrets and that is it. If they get attacked and fail then the next time I get there I just repair the place a bit and move on since very little damage is actually done when you fail to defend them. The MM made a terrible choice when they made me their leader. I just don't care about them beyond their ability to give me free stuff.
I honestly don't know what the best perk of joining the BoS is. I guess maybe not being attacked by kamikaze vertibirds might be one.
Oberland is under BoS control in my game, yet I still got a message "help defend Oberland Station". Then again, I guess it's better if I do it, than the BoS raining fire from the sky and killing the settlers when their vertibirds crash. LOL
Weird, I never got defending mission from farms under BoS control, maybe it's coincidence or a glitch. It's just weird to get a mission to defend a place that is not under your control.
That is one and even better if you never do minutemen missions at all that way you can get loads of farm under bos protection. Oh also brotherhood is the fastest way to get a t-60 and they are the only faction which sells Gatling laser. If the settlement stuff is not for you then ignore minutemen after killing the deathclaw in concordia and go for brotherhood.
EDIT: not a single BOS controlled settlement has ever been attacked. A settlement only gets attacked if its personally allied with you, IE if you can use their workbench. If you cant build at that settlement it will not get attacked.
I wonder if Is it possible that you can loose a settlement whem happiness drops down till 10 % or so?
