Nope....right there with you.
Currently at 46.25 lvl and I have NO intention of heading to DC anytime soon.

I'm level 50 and have only just started the main game - I've passed by DC and spotted Piper hammering on the door, but I've not yet triggered that meeting.
The problem is, you rocket up through the levels just by reacting to Minutemen quests and trying to get your settlements to some sort of stability. There really needs to be a more natural break point with Minutemen/settlements, other than deciding not to "bank" three completed quests with Preston - and making strenuous efforts not to accidentally bump into him or one of those settlers-with-a-kidnapped-friend who are waiting to catch you.
I'm also still doing 90% of my combat with a pistol, and have not got around to wearing power armour. I think the game is a bit too generous in scaling the character abilities with level....
Am I the only one who thought it was the DC in Fallout 3 and not Diamond City?
Yeah, I thought the OP said that they're burned out from Fallout 4 and will go back to DC for a while.
Until I saw that they meant "Diamond City".
After reading many of the responses in this thread, as well as others, I'm actually quite relieved to know that I'm not so far behind as I thought I was. I, too, have also been waiting to start the "Glowing Sea" MQ. Not quite as high a level as many others I've seen (46 15/16), but it does go to show that regardless of what many naysayers may think, that there is quite a bit to do in this game so long as you don't convince yourself into believing the game is completely linear and short lived.
The biggest mistake I've made to this point is having a general idea of what the end game is going to be due to the spoiler links. I made the mistake of opening up one earlier in this thread that I didn't realize was going to be shooting as far forward as I thought it was going to.
But honestly, I'm still good with it.
I'm with the OP. Have a character at Level 50, and have no idea where I am on the main quest.
I think I'd better have this moved to the spoilers thread.
Please, if you're going to mention names, use the spoiler tags. The very thread shows you that some of us have not progressed far in the story yet.
Cheers.
I have played Fallout 4 four times. For my Minutemen character, I have completed every main and side quests, and I am on level 70. However, I still have more building to do. My goal is to re-build every settlement. Getting resources is a pain but that's part of the fun I suppose.
My BOS, Railroad and Institute character are about Level 30 because I have only done the main quests and a few required side quests. I have only upgraded the Red Rocket Tuck Shop to a livable house and completed the basic requirements for Sanctuary.
This game is huge and I am loving it.
Now that I've gone a little further I can see good points from both sides.
I am most definitely still facing a challenge in battles but I'm also better equipped than I might have been for such things as hacking, etc.
That being said, I don't regret it one bit as I like to thoroughly explore sandbox games and I don't need to rush them or dwell on getting new shinies.
Cheers.
I'm level 73 and I actually just made it to the Institute for the first time last weekend. I am taking my time with the game, plus there are so many areas to explore, I get easily side tracked. I also got a lot of xp from just building and expanding my many settlements!
Quests are faction dependent. the best part of this game is to have companions around, try to go around and find them all, they have a lot of funny and interesting to say about locations and even toward other NPC.
