How long would you survive in the wasteland?

Post » Sat Jan 09, 2016 10:53 pm

LOL good plan! I would sign up as a scribe... a desk scribe!! Let some wastelander run around and find tech for me! :D

OMG you killin' me!! LOL I just pictured one of those old TVs, sitting on an old couch in a drafty house, playing Fallout 4!!! :glare: Excuse me, it's raining! Stop playing Fallout and fix the damn roof!! hahahahaha

The Brotherhood would seem like a nice place to end up. I'm sure your "in" with them would be your pre-war knowledge. Even a person of average technical skill in the modern world would seem like a wizard to them when it comes to figuring out what bits of old world technology did.

About 10 minutes after leaving the vault.... I am 54 years old, and have MS, so, I have little endurance, can't run, can't carry much (DOGMEAT! My favorite pack mule) and don't have the stamina to remain active for very long.... So, yep. Hang out at the vault, quick forays during daylight to scrounge food, and get a vehicle running. :)

Whoah! Don't touch that, do you want to blow us all up? Here, I better take that to my quarters for safekeeping.

Do you remember little details of unimportant stuff that happened 20 years ago? Imagine multiplying that 10x and throwing in some brain rot and years of extreme stress to boot. Ghouls wouldn't be nearly as valuable for knowledge of the old world as a man/woman who literally just stepped out of it.

*pulls out i-phone* You see, this is a social device... I mean a very high tech device that can pin-point a target with 100% accuracy... :shifty:

Aww don't worry! We will form the new Vault 111 Militia the Half Hour Men and Women (or something like that) and work together to carve out a living! :D

LOL So true! I'm lucky I remember what I had for lunch yesterday!!

Make someone snort coffee - check

Make someone laugh - check

My work is done here! LOL Glad you liked that comment! :)

 :D Correct! Heck, it will probably take me an hour just to get from Vault 111 to Sanctuary! I'm not used to walking! LOL

Oh that will be our motto! The Half Hour Men/Women - We will get there when we get there! :D

I know that if I lived in any time in history other than the modern long peace id train myself in how to use weapons. If I was a person in the pre-war Falloutverse filled with social strife and active conflict I'd know that Id be forced to fight for things like my home or my country at some point, so having a rifle and pistol back home in Sanctuary is absolutely a thing that would happen.

But really, a lot of my current life isnt really translatable to the Falloutverse. So much of how a person thinks and acts is based in the society that they live in, and if you were to plop me right now into 2287 I don't think i'd be able to survive at all. No weapons knowledge, no survival skills, would probably starve to death in Sanctuary after a few days or be popped by a raider. Living inside of the Falloutverse would produce a very different person than if I was to be plopped inside of it.

Well I would not last long.

Sad fact is ole 2 caps has no idea how rad away is supposed to work is that an IV drip, or like that cheap box wine (its in a bag in the box) or does it go -shudder- in the other end what ??. either I would kill myself using it wrong or die of instamash, pork and beans rad poisoning.

Not pretty

Anybody thinking he could last more than a few hours in a wasteland come to life is delusional.

Grew up rather poor myself, was long stretches of time where we had to make do with no electricity or gas, and on occasion, running water. So heck, a lot of my childhood was petty much like living in the wasteland, southside of chicago too so one of the worst crime ridden areas of the US. I don't think I'd magically be able to fight off super androids or anything or trained mercs, but I could get by well enough since I am used to scrounging and hustling to get by. Though I am quite thankful my living arrangements have improved dramatically from my youth.

LOL Perfect! The Incredible Half Hour Men - We get there when we get there! hahahaha

OMG I have never thought about that! I thought we just uhm drink it? LOL

Sure, if the Wasteland is already filled with all sorts of dangers, many of us wouldn't last long. I know there's no way I would ever survive a fight with a Deathclaw! LOL

However, over all, I would say that we are pretty resilient and we have a strong survival instinct. Read the book "One Second After" by William Forstchen. It's how a community comes together in the time of a major crisis. It's a pretty realistic look at what would happen and how people manage to survive.

@ thepointman: You will be our point man in the new Half Hour Men division!! :)

@ Jaramr: I'm sure that the wasteland would change us all. We probably would do things we never thought capable of. You would have to take a crash course in survival and weapons knowledge for sure.

Aww thanks Doc! I'm glad!! :)

About 30days. But only 3 without water.

I'd probably die in Concord but I tend to keep myself away from cities so I guess I would die from a couple Raiders shooting me in the back in the middle of nowhere.
