Picking a Faction: Minutemen first?

Post » Sun Jan 10, 2016 3:03 am

Hi guys. I have been doing all the side quested I could get, exploring the map and developing my settlements and I am pretty much done, as far as I can tell. So now it's time to go ahead with the main quest and picking a faction. I will save at that point so I can perhaps replay with different factions later. My doubt is: does it make sense to build the gadget with the Minutemen or do they side with me whichever other faction I chose?

Cheers

You can side with all the factions at the same time up to a point, then you'll reach a point where you'll have to chose. The Minutemen however you can continue to support and do missions for no matter what other faction you support. In one quest, you can chose the Minutemen option and that will resolve the main quest completely in favor of the Minutemen, cutting out the other factions. (I tried to explain without giving away spoilers)

Siding with them was my biggest regret in a fallout game ever lol

How come? I have done most of my Fallout gameplay with them and I do admit they are kinda worthless. I mean, like someone here at the forums said, we are "The General" and we do all the foot work, so it seems. Nevertheless, I will pick them first and them come back to the save with the decision point and do it again with the RailRoad. Not sure about the BoS, for it's not really my thing...

Yeah apparently the word General means 'Biggest Gopher' in post war.

I've finally been able to manage the MM but I've done it by just slowly starting up settlements and not turning anything in until I'm ready to start a new one. This seems to be working pretty well.

I split my save game at level 52 so I could do the different endings.

I went down the Brotherhood of Steel ending path and found it to be laughably easy, I just had to look at an enemy and they died, no challenge whatsoever.

I then took the same character down the Minutemen path, and it was a challenge. If I hadn't had my fully upgraded legendary rocket launcher and other overkill gear, it would have been a really hard time for me to finish the game.

You just don't get much support when fighting with the Minutemen. One feels like you are a large army attacking a smaller army. The other feels like you are one person attacking a small army...

Well I am going with the MM and I accepted joining the Institute for now, mainly because their leader seems to be our son. I will play along some missions they are giving me but at some point I am quite sure I will let the Institute go and try finishing the game with the MM. Let's see if I can be aware of the decision moment I am sure I will face hehehe
