I thought this as well.

Think about it, what would happen if you take away levels from characters? You'd lose abilities, but which ones? (Hypothetical thinking here)

You wouldnt be able to give exp to a character taht would lower your level, but lets say you have a lvl 16 and 20k exp is lvl 16 and you need 25k for lvl 17. That character has 22500 exp meaning he can give 2500exp away... Maybe im going to far into this

That sounds like something, it's either that -

Or that you can only give EXP from a character that is level 20

Your characters do not gain xp - you do. All the xp you accumulate across all your characters, is totaled together. It's yours to spend how you want, when you want, where you want. So a character couldn't lose xp, since he doesn't have any to lose. It wasn't the characters xp that unlocked that ability or bought a new weapon or clothing item - it was you, the player. that bought it for him.

xp is not tied to individual characters. Just think of your characters a US soldiers, and the xp you gain is money the government uses to outfit and equip them.

You spend XP from your "bank" to level up your character

You will level up when you gain a certain amount of xp. You spend credits (which is different than xp) to buy abilities. XP is just used for leveling up, so you could "spend" some xp from your bank to quickly level up a lower lvl character you may have.

You will level up automatically once you reach the required amount of xp. The only time you spend it, is when you want to boost the xp of characters manually.

Just curious where you got this from? It seems perfectly plausible its just,

I understood from the interview you may level a character to 20 say 50 000 XP or wtv made up number, as you kept playing you would never get over lvl 20 but you may get 52 535 xp and the extra 2 535 you could transfer to another character
