Quest Items stuck in inventory.

Post » Sun Jan 10, 2016 4:15 pm

Seems I have some items that I simply can't get rid of...... Mainly BOS stuff, for the "Lost Patrol" quest, and some stuff from..... can't remember the name of the joint, but, where you had to gather the 'unidentified samples' and complete an experiment...... the quest is done, but, the stuff is still stuck in my inventory. I would like to be able to get rid of it.

If it holds true to the way it's done in Oblivion and other Beth games, then try the console command:

SetQuestObject 0

Get the ID from the CS - Oops! There's no CS for FO4 as yet.

There is another way to get the ID, but I can't dredge it up at the moment.

Probably several ways. For example, put everything that you can dump into a container so that all you are holding is the quest items. Go to third person then open the console and click on your character and enter 'inv'. It should list your inventory with the console IDs for each item.

Thank You.

It uses the Skyrim script engine or a variant for quest objects.
The last use of the Oblivion style quest object rigging was in Fallout New Vegas.

Some quest items take care of themselves.
Others may be used in quests you have not yet run across. Mass Fusion Executive Suite ID is actually useful as one can land a vertibird on the roof of that building.

Can't wait for the no-quest-items mod. My OCD compels me to keep a very clean and minimal inventory, but I'm forced to carry around a bunch of useless crap. That console command doesn't work btw, since F4 is built upon the Skyrim engine. I'll do some more searching to see if I can find the proper command.

Even if I could just sort them off to a different tab, that would be nice.......

Yeah really, so when you're looking for that specific holotape you don't have to sort through dozens of useless items. I swear sometimes I wonder if the game-testers spend any actual quality time with these games before release, or if it's just a job for them.

A tab for all the weightless keys would be nice. They pile up in the misc tab when all I want to see are the readable notes and holotapes.

being able to just DROP misc stuff would be nice.... but, it doesn't show up in the 'transfer' menu.

I picked up a mod that makes a Keyring item under MISC tab. The default mod was to eliminate keys from showing up in inventory at all, but people requested a Keyring so the modder added that in.

I've not yet seen a mod to remove quest items, but I've got plenty of them cluttering my MISC tab.
