I've have a quick question. If you fail at the first attempt at romancing a companion, do you ever get another chance or are you permenatly friend zoned?

idk, I just have my two boyfriends Preston and Mccready and they were super easy to romance. lol Just keep doing missions with the person and eventually you can choose the awkward romantic options and they will accepted if you have enough time spent with them.

Awkward side note- After sleeping I got a comment from both Preston and Mccready...hmmm lol

I'd like to know the answer to this as well.

Specifically, I ignored the first "flirt" option as I wasn't sure who to romance yet.

It would be interesting to know, though I always save right before attempting a romance just in case it fails so it's really a non-issue.

The "Flirt" options don't matter, only the "Romance" option at the very end.

And I dunno. On some characters I can decline romance and they'll never bring it up again, but on one of my characters MacCready occasionally repeats the "I hope I didn't bore you to death with my life story" line and I get the romance option each time.

On Piper, I had numerous romance options and failed them all. I failed like 4 times. Then I added one point to Charisma, tried a 5th time and succeeded. Didn't notice any backlash from the prior fails.

I failed at romancing Piper during my previous playthrough. Yes I was permanently friend-zoned until I started over. It's best to maximize your charisma before hitting that romance option.

When I romanced my companion I failed at a couple of flirts but I was still successful at the romance. Maybe it depends on the companion.
