Settlement Issues

Here is a list of current settlement bugs that i and friends have run in to:

1 Defend settlement glitches

1a. Sometimes there is no warning at all about an attack... nothing shows up in the quest log, there isnt anything that flashes on the screen, and there is no radio announcement about it when listening to freedom radio... on other occasions one of these will trip but not the others... i have had several screen announcements about an attack with nothing logged in the quest log afterwards and i have had a radio announcement of an attack without anything in the quest log. Often I will get a failed notice with no prior warning of an attack, which is beyond annoying since I religiously check my quest log. The whole warning system is poorly thought out beyond the glitches, so it just makes this part of the game un-enjoyable

1b. Defending an area that never gets attacked.... this happens often... you travel to an area that is under attack, and the attack never happens... you can wait for days and never have the event trip, once you leave the area, you still get a failed defend message though

1c. Successful defense failing to register... i have had several situations where I kill all the enemies in an area, and even get the settlers to acknowledge my help, but the quest never completes in the log and I eventually get a failed message...

1d. Random fails with no attack.... at least three times i have been in a settlement that had no attack warning active , just building or modding something , and suddenly my settlement starts going into disrepair as if attacked... I watched corn and carrots in one settlement drop one by one from functional to in need of repair as i stood there. I was in the settlement for an hour before this started.... in another case stuff I just built a minute before hand was in need of repair. I saw all my generators one by one break, I built a new one to get some power while I repaired the others, and when i turned around and turned back the generator just built was in need of repair... A third time I watched a whole grove of multifruit trees get leveled in a manner of two seconds. about a minute after a successful defend message, with me in the settlement, and with no damage anywhere near the grove... turned around to talk to a settler, and when i turned back it was just all dead.

1e. unfix-able items... this happens a ton, corn, tomatoes, multifruit, water pumps... the item will ask to be repaired, but when you try to it takes the items needed from your inventory, but the item itself remains broke and if you try again you will get the same loop of it asking to be repaired....

2. Disappearing turrets... In several areas, notably Finch Farm, my turrets disappear... the lines to the electric ones remain, but the turret will be gone... no attacks, no fixable thing, just a line in the air connected to nothing... and i am no where near the build limit either.

3. Settlers upset over a resource they have in abundance... mostly beds... in one case i had 38 and they were asking for more, and each was accessible too. its happened with water as well...

4. Trees, cars, and other items clearly within the boundries not able to be scrapped... Coastal cottage and greygarden are the worse, but Ive had several items that were absolutely in the middle of settlements that I couldn't scrap

5. Bodies that never go away... Ideally they are scrapable or something, but the ghoals and Raiders you kill to clear them out often never ever despawn.

Overall its a very fun game, but I hate having to run back to defend all the time, especially when it has a low chance of actually working right....

So a few updates... after replaying a save at least a dozen times, I found that occasionally the ghouls at Finch Farms (or other enimies, potentially) can spawn on a broken overpass they cant get off... moreover when you shoot them some fall through the ground and get trapped undernieth.... I also randomly won a glitched encounter there when i found Ghouls fighting the forged intead of the settlement. You would go to the settlement in both these cases, nothing would ever happen , and eventually you would leave and lose.

I still have found a dozen more situations where a settlement has its defenses and resources wiped out without any message at all, and I make it a point to check the Misc quests every few minutes to be safe... Today I loaded my game from last night and when I did my daily settlement rounds, three settlements had severe damage despite never having been attacked

One more item to add to the list, in Sunshine Tidings, I lost the ability to select or loot anything for a while... a Verticopter flew overhead and fought some raiders with me, then nothing within the borders could be selected or looted. if you blasted a dead body out of the settlement range, you could loot it, but nothing inside gave you any sort of ability to interact...A simple reload fixed it, but it was weird

Yes, I second this. All of the above is svcking the fun out of the game. Especially after investing a lot of time into settlements its very annoying to see settlements happiness 'destroy' itself.

Right now I'm experiencing a new bug that had all my settlers show up in doubled numbers on the pipboy. When in reality I have 30 settlers the system thinks and shows that I have 60.

When I get to the settlement everything is normal again but when I'm away it all goes downhill. They obviously have not enough beds, water etc. and complain about it and happiness is dropping like a rock in water. This bug infected already all my bigger settlements and I'm close to stop playing because its so annoying to see it all falling apart like that. I think I have to wait for the next patch... but who knows when this will be?

Didn't know hey talk about frequent updates? In my opinion they really dropped the ball. Other developers supported their game with big patches every other week (witcher3) but Bethesda seems to have more important things to do then to fix their game in a timely manner.

Sorry for the rant but this is getting frustrating.
