Freefall Armor

Post » Mon Jan 11, 2016 12:01 pm

Seriously, why would they make these as one being light combat armor, and the other heavy? lol Makes no sense.

Anyways, i just did the trash can glitch to get these as I don't do Power Armor or have a jet pack. Might use these for a bit unless I come across some better legendary pieces.

What do you guys and gals think of these boots? worth it? Just wish they matched!

You can save-scum until you get a matched pair. Just be sure to save before hitting that last alcove.

My own set were a pair of heavy combat armor legs.

What I do not get is why put them in a place most people would have to use exploits to get to. I know they are quite powerful, but seriously, if they did not want people to get to them, why have them in-game at all?

If you are on a PC, then there is a mod that allows you to change it between light, medium, or heavy through the armor modification system.

It's meant to be a challenge. That's why they're hard to get. If the Devs truly didn't want anyone to get to them, then they wouldn't have been included.

Has anyone even gotten them without the use of exploits? If not, then they were not meant to be grabbed by players normally.

You're suppose to get them using a jetpack. There are a few hidden areas that need a jetpack or jumping precisely to get to them.

I think you get the full effect by wearing only one piece, so I think the intended reason for giving a light and a sturdy variant is that you can match them up with multiple sets of armor. I haven't tested this out, so I'm not sure if you need both for the perk to work.

This. It's a time-honored gaming tradition where the devs reward you with a cool item by you thoroughly proving you don't actually need it.

In this case, the fact that you're supposed to reach it by jetpack means you own at least one suit of power armor. The freefall legs are less functional than the power armor- they don't damage enemies when you land, nor do they provide better protection than PA.

If you're asking the logic as to why this is a time-honored tradition, I'd suggest you grab a time-travel machine, a baseball bat, and whale on the first few game devs who thought it was a good idea.

You need both pieces. Like I said upthread, you can get both at the variant you want by savescumming before you hit the last alcove.

I see. Good to know. In my first play through I got up there and found an empty safe. I felt cheated. So I didn't get a chance to test it out. I've got a mod installed that lets me modify armor from light>sturdy>heavy and the other way around , so I'd probably just take that route.

Still seeing how I feel about these looking different lol but it is a lot more fun exiting the Prydwen now by jumping over the ledge.
