Can you turn off the Castle radio station?

Post » Mon Jan 11, 2016 2:38 pm

Is there a way to turn off the damm freedom radio broadcast over the loudspeakers at the castle?

I did the old guns mission to open it up and could literally not even hear the dialogue from the mission, and got a settlement defend and a kidnapping mission forced on me WHILE DOING THE MISSION AT THE CASTLE!!!!!

I wan to use it as a base, but not with freakin' Johnny Reb radio blasting banjo music and making me go get kittens out of trees constantly.

Just turn the castle speakers off with the switch beside the radio-make sure to deactivate the loudspeakers one, will fix the issiue of you getting random quests just by traveling there or at least it did for me.

You can turn speakers off, or you can turn the whole thing off. I like to shut down the speakers and just put a little transistor radio on the guy's desk.

Also, it's a fiddle, not a banjo, and it's beautiful. :P

Thanks- I thought I looked hard for a switch around the radio, but must have missed it. I just want to kill the speakers but still be able to use the cannons to fire into the city.

Is there any point in building multiple cannons, or do you get the same volume of fire no matter how many you build?

The point of building multiple is that they have max range, so you need em on varius locations to have good coverage.

That's a great idea.

I'll be doing that when I sit down to play later on tonight.

I seem to recall reading the artillery range is roughly 5 map grid side distances. Also I read about some people having done extensive testing and found out if multiple artillery areas overlap they create a bigger effect.

If you meant, does it benefit to have multiple artilleries in same settlement, I don't know about that.

I put up I think three artillery at the Castle, and fire missions seem to last way longer when I'm near the Castle compared to other places.

Hmm.. that would suggest -every- artillery in range where you call them fires in turn, be it in same settlement or close by settlements. With maybe some upper limit cap, guess would need some testing.

Is there a switch on the radio itself that turns it off? I put one of those power poles with a switch on it next to the radio and hooked the power line though that so whenever I want to I just shut the whole thing down. I got so tired of getting those side missions while trying to do things in the Castle.

There is. I don't know if there's a switch to power it down, but there's definitely a switch just to power down the speakers.

The switch to

The switch to power it down is to stop it from getting electricity. If you went with the "obvious" route and led a power line from the switch pylon by the castle wall then shutting that switch stops it from getting electricity. Or removing the power cord leading to it if you want it permadead.

Thats actually what I did, I just moved it over next to the radio itself. Its kinda funny because when you turn it off the guy manning it gets up and walks around, then when you turn it on he walks right back over. I wanna see what he does when I keep turning it on and off again but I keep getting sidetracked and forget.

There's a blue breaker box thing at the base of the tower. When you walk up to it it says 'Shut speakers off'. Hit it, and they'll be off, but it'll still be broadcasting. No more automatic radiant quests just from visiting the Castle.

Actually, it's needs a lot more and different muzak. Obviously the town of Banjo-Twang where the DJ is from didn't have a big collection.

It's a fiddle actually. If a banjo is the redneck guitar then the fiddle is the redneck violin. Or maybe it just is a violin with a different name, I could never really tell the difference between the two.
