Circumventing the settlement item budget cap, fast and easy

Post » Tue Jan 12, 2016 12:11 pm

Many/most players by now know that each settlement location has a limit of just how many objects may be placed before the the settlement size bar maxes out. Many/most probably also already know that scrapping items will reduce the item total, allowing for additional items to be placed. Bringing items into a settlement and scrapping them there effectively increases that settlement's item budget. BUT DID YOU KNOW that you can scrap raw resources (the stuff that other objects break down to)? Acid, Antiseptic, Copper, Steel, Wood, etc., et al can also be scrapped and what you get is a 1-for-1 breakdown: E.G., 100 Wood scrap down to 100 Wood. And you can scrap raw resources an endless number of times. It is entirely possible to have a completely full settle bar be completely emptied out, simply by scrapping the same raw resources over and over again.

You can basically drop and send items like weapons back to the workbench and do the same as well, but there are different ways to skin a cat.

This is true, butttttttt..... When you are scrapping those items, how many will you be scrapping at the same time? As many as a dozen or two? With scrapping raw resources you could be scrapping hundreds, maybe even thousands (for Wood in particular) with just a couple clicks of the mouse. That reduces the settlement size bar meter MUCH faster.

Thanks for the info. Though I have been afraid of extending the settlement budget fearing that it may cause unforeseen effects. If I ever get pass this fear, I may try scrapping gold or something sizable that wood not disappear within the environment. I have bad eyes. Yes, I did that on purpose.
