So you're saying they must die before they evolve?
So you're saying they must die before they evolve?
Yes.
Because while you run to hug them because you are deeply, madly in love with every synth created, they may well have decided that the human race has run its course ala: Skynet.
and they'd kill you, no matter how deeply you were in love with them.
Except that we have a Mr Handy robot transferred into a Synth body, sure she was programmed with extra knowledge, but she is only a 'person' once she has a 'human' body up until then nobody is calling for her to have special rights, we even met several robots who seem to have similar levels of intelligence to Gen-3 Synths. Nobody is truly championing Synthetic rights, its only the 'human' likeness that give the Gen-3's a special rights the Railroad are calling for.
Danse tells a different story though. He's like a lost dog begging for his master regardless of how BoS treated him.
I've asked RR fans about the hypocrisy in their arguments but few ever address it.
He hasn't altered his programming yet. Nor do I think that he, personally, ever would.
But all it'd take is one synth who did to start abducting other synths and start reprogramming them.
Curie wasn't a Mr. Handy, she was a Miss Nany. This line, overall appears to have a higher level of intelligence than most of the other General Atomics bots. There's another Miss Nany bot in Diamond City which 'falls in love' with the school teacher and displays high levels of communication abilities.
The Miss Nanny's may have higher levels of intelligence because they were programmed to be researchers and medical assitants. Not just butlers.
In addition, Curie seems to have her intelligence and cognizance greatly increase after the transfer to the Synth body. Which may be a result of hardware "upgrade" if you want to look at it that way.
That's a dodge I'm afraid, no robots are considered to be people in the Fallout world whatever their programming....we have several running shops, bars and restaurants, they act as nannys (both Mr Handys and Miss Nanny) to inflants and other children, they are teachers, they are the crew of the USS constitution, etc
At no time has anybody called for freedom for Synthetics until they got a 'human' body and suddenly it becomes a moral question......its rather like the Star Wars Universe where the good guys civilisation is built of millions of years of slavery of Droids, since we are shown that Droids in that universe can and will become sentient over time, but no human body no human rights.
Its not a dodge. I explained the difference between a Mr. Handy and a robot like what Curie originally was. They clearly do have different intelligence levels.
Nanny's seem to have higher levels of intelligence than your average Handy. Which, in Curie's case, appears to be increased with the transfer to the Synth body. Again, possible due to the 'hardware upgrade'.
Now is a Miss Nanny bot deserving of all rights that a Gen-3 Synth has (or 'should' have)? Dunno. Not a RR supporter like a said. Ask one of them. IMO, AI's like the Gen-3's are way above in intelligence any pre-war AI construct though. With the exception of super-intelligent AI's like Eden.
But it is because mainly Ms Nannys fill the same role as Mr Handys, household duties and childcare and we have two examples in the game who seems to be of similar intelligence levels, althrough Curie has been programmed with extra knowledge, she doesn't seem to gain any extra intelligence over Codsworth or other Mr Handys with personalities. As for gaining intelligence, I don't think she ever makes that claims, she gains extra senses (touch, taste etc) but I don't remember any claims for a boost in intelligence.
As for Eden and the other Sentient Ai's I've seen nothing in game to suggest that the Gen-3 are more intelligent, they are simply programmed to mimic humans or gorillas.
Forgive me, but I explicitly said that I support the concept of personhood being extended to those nonhumanoid robots with emergent AIs.
If the Railroad won, all means of making synths would be destroyed, so I have no idea what you're so concerned about. And all I want is for there to not be different standards of treatment between humans and synths.
Curie was a medical researcher. Curing diseases and doing advanced biological research. Not a child-care provider. Which we don't have any examples of Mr. Handy's doing (that I know of, correct me if I'm wrong though). Which again, suggests they (or at least she) were specifically made to be vastly more intelligent.
Her general speech, communication ability and such increases. Which is what I took to mean a general increase in intelligence.
Perhaps your right, and she doesn't get an intelligence boost. But that would also mean Miss Nanny's are pretty damn intelligent. Maybe not as much as the Gen-3's, but certainly very intelligent. Question for the RR then as to whether or not they deserve to be free as well.
Then you are more consistent than many who champion the cause of Gen-3s while ignore all the other Synthetic 'life' that exists in the Fallout world.
She was an assistant to humans doing medical research, she doesn't actually produce any new knowledge that I'm aware of (I believe the cure she produces is from the humans scientists research), true she's been given a unique voice and has apparently a large amount of knowledge stored in her memory but again I see no great intelligence, she has a database of knowledge this doesn't make her greatly intelligent.
Prior to Fallout 4 there were no Ms Nannys so any duty performed by them were all Mr Handys.
I would agree that Maxson is a great military leader, but I do not think he would make a great national leader, which he becomes at the end of the game. Maxson was raised in the Brotherhood, and military life is all he knows. He has not been out to know the people of the wasteland nor commonwealth,. My character on the other hand, has a military background, has been out and gotten to know both the good and bad people of the commonwealth, and knows the land better than Maxson does. With that said, the PC would be a better leader for the commonwealth, as he knows how to be a good military leader and a man for the people. I mean, Maxsson grew up as one of those nazi youths, do you really want that kind of abomination leading anything?
She finished that Mole Rat disease cure on her own though, long after the humans had died.
She can clearly communicate and talk though on a level that far surpasses say, Codsworth. Less so when she's still a Miss Nanny, moreso when she becomes a Gen-3.
I mean talking to Curie is much like talking to Piper or Cait. Talking to Codsworth on the other hand, is more like talking to a dog. Least that's the impression I get.
[Cough] Institute's director [cough]
This makes me so sad they cut Danse's story where what you describe is possible though.
Perhaps she's the exception the regular line of Miss Nanny's then. This would make alot of sense.
Dr. Whitely did something similar to ED-E it seems. Since ED-E displays more command/communication abilities than your average eyebot. Still a dumb-AI, but smarter than your average eyebot.
Makes more sense.
Avoiding Curie then, we have several cases of Mr Handys with Personalities....one running a bar (and giving you quests), on running a restaurant, Codsworth (okay he is a bit nutty), Ms Nanny school teacher (isn't that love affair robosixuality from Futurama) .....we also have the gunshop owner who while a little disturbing seems to be up there intelligence wise with Gen-3s I've met and 'she' is at least as intelligent as Cricket.
