First aid kits - Who wants them back?

Post » Wed Jan 13, 2016 1:51 am

General idea - Make stim packs less useful. If you step on a land mine in middle of combat, you cant just pop open your inventory and heal your shattered legs.

My thoughts on how to implement it - Only two ways to heal cripple limbs

1. Visit the doctor

2. Use a first aid kit outside of combat

3. Med-x can give temporary relief to everything but head trauma. (If you have ever been on morphine, you know it can get you past an obscene amount of pain)

Why the need for this mod? Stim packs are just to useful, even on survival. How many of us got crippled, and are not phased by it in the least? All it takes is to pop a stim, and your back in the fight. This would also make some of the perks that reduce limb damage far more useful.

So, Dr. bags?
Would be good. It's way to easy to heal crippled limbs. At least in previous games you had to use a stimpack on the crippled limb itself.

I'm content with the system as is. If anything, something like this should be optional and at the discretion of the player.

That's likely why this is the in mod section. :P

I agree Stimpaks are too useful, though mainly they're just too plentiful. The first aid kits in the world have one in them every single time. I play on Hard and have stockpiles almost 200 stimpaks despite using them frequently.

This is a very valid point...lol

Apparently I wasn't paying enough attention to what section I was in.

Stims are pitifully OP even on Survival. I can't wait for a good hardcoe mod.

Yeah, I just got sick with having over 100+ stims, on survival.. and I flat out don't care about armor. Do most of my fighting in a tux and top hat.. with no armor mods. And I am by no means a great fps person.

Easy and cheap thing would be to simply reduce the quantity of the stims - But that doesn't change how useful they are. Instead.. I'd rather make them a tad less useful. So perhaps a limit on how many you can use in a short period of time, or not allowing them to heal crippled limbs. Or even giving some sort of stim addiction (For example, when hooked on stims, you can't heal by any other means but by taking another stim)

*shrugs* Anyhow I am just fishing for ideas since none of this stuff is probably possible til the kit is released.

*edit* To be fair I did run out of stims once in one run through, I was level 10, and had a mod that increased the level range of all spawns. I did the trinity towers quest, and on the way down level 30+ mutants starting shooting me on the way down the building. I actually had to jump off the elevator, while it was still descending between floors, and take lots and lots of jet. I then used my super sledge to kill everyone. Once the last mutant dropped, I jumped off the building and landed back into the elevator.

I'd prefer rigged meshes be made for leg an arm or head braces which temporarily do the same thing to bypass, worked well in a FO3 private file. Though temporary first aid kits that do the same thing would be good. Just a preference though.

I think it'd be great if Stims were just as useful, but far more rare. Imagin finding 10% as many as you do now. That means finding one would be a great find, and you could actual heal yourself. They'd effectively become the doctor's bag. Then you do most of your other healing with food, which would make cooking even more important. (I also have like 400 food items, since I use stims frequently)

hmmm really not sure why the hate for stimpaks rarely use them. on my first play through I had like 100 or so before I was 20. Mainly used food and drink for my healing.

Also if you have a surplus of food items cooked meats and such. vendors will by them. The doctor vendor that roams around will buy them. for me it was something like 35 caps for one deathclaw steak.
