Controller Support Bug Help

Post » Thu Jan 14, 2016 4:55 am

Hi everyone, I really really need help here as this is driving me mad.

I've just got Fallout4 on PC and I've had a couple of issues with it, the first issue was the black screen getting it to run issue which I managed to fix by running it in windowed borderless mode using the Nvidia GeForce experience which is all well and good but now I'm having a lot of problems when I'm running the actual game with regards to controller support.

I'm playing this(and most of my other PC games) using an Xbox One controller via the Xbox One USB and the game recognizes my controller fine, the problem I am having is that it's reading the inputs incorrectly and going a bit mental, for example if I use the right anolog stick to try and turn right I will turn 360 degrees, sometimes get caught spinning and be unable to do anything else, or I'll end up walking into a wall and unable to move backwards. The furthest I have got is to assigning my SPECIAL stats but thats impossible because it just keeps going right until it reaches 10 and I cant move anywhere else.

I've tried connecting my DS4 controller too, just to check to see if it was the controller and had the exact same issue with that, I have also ran other games (Witcher 3, GTA V etc etc) with the controllers and they have worked perfectly with no problems at all.

I've looked about for this and not seen anything around online, and most of the fixes I've looked at have been for fixing things to do with the moust rather than a controller, although they have looked like similar issues (although my K&M work perfectly I've tried)

Any help anyone? :(

If you are using Windows 10, I highly recommend the Microsoft wireless adapter for the Xbox One controller. Maybe very different than the USB experience.

Yeah I've seen those around and considered getting one before, only reason I didn't was because the cable stretched long enough. I do have other cables that will fit around though come to think of it, I might have a try with one of those see if the cable could be an issue.

Okay tried with another USB (the DS4 one) and the same problem still persists. Spinning all the way round when turning right, not being able to turn while walking etc etc.

Seems a really strange problem.

The reason I think the wireless adapter may help is that it is an entirely different driver than the USB one.

I assume you are using USB cable to connect to your controller ? For DS4 don't run any 3rd party like ds4windows, FO4 should natively detect it and mapped to xbox controller. At the settings -> control just select default to reset things. Or in game just plug out the usb cable( when u plug out the usb cable, it will revert to keyboard and mousse) and plug in again.

It's a good shout, however I don't see why both controllers wouldn't work if its a driver issue. I'll have a look into getting one and see if it will help though.

Yep, through a USB cable and no third party software, It actually detects each controller individually if I use them, but they both have the same problem.
