Ghouls dead on first arrival

Post » Thu Jan 14, 2016 8:39 am

I am not quite sure if this is a glitch or not, but whenever I go somewhere with a lot of ghouls (graveyard, Super Duper Mart, etc.) Most of the ghouls are dead. Seriously, I found only 3 living ghouls in Sunshine tidings Co-op, maybe 5 in Super Duper Mart. There are tons of dead ghouls. If I compare it to what I see on youtube, most people have all live ghouls there. I haven't seen this happen with other enemies as consistently, so I am not sure.

Had this before any mods on a vanilla game, playing on hard. Any suggestions?

Just find it weird that most ghouls are already dead and I don't get XP for killing them...

It's normal. The super duper mart had lots of dead ones. And a few pretending or coming in the Windows.

Most of the ghouls in Super Duper Mart are in fact already dead. However, there should be plenty of living ones as well. I was there last night. In my game there are a total of 14 live ghouls at Super Duper Mart. But there are also 3 spawn points that spawns a total of 8 additional ghouls for a total of 22 ghouls. I play on Survival mode.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When you first enter Super Duper Mart you can go either left or right (more or less). To the right will be a live ghoul laying down and two others near a doorway that leads further into the store. Going left, there should be a total of 3 living ghouls in the cafeteria section; one is laying on the floor in plain sight, the other two are hidden behind the counter on the left. There are two more ghouls in a locked room that is directly opposite from the entrance you walked in from. I believe one climbs in through a window while another is laying down besides some rubbish.

Walking further into the market through the doorway I mentioned above there should one laying on the floor (unless it already detected you) to your right. There should be 5 others as you go further back into the store. One will be where the generator is, 3 should be in the kitchen / pantry room and there is one in the bathroom which crawls through the window. Naturally, the ghouls that are just standing could be wandering around. That is a total of 14 ghouls.

8 ghouls from spawn points -

Before you enter the doorway that leads to the back of Super Duper Mart I recommend that you save the game. Each of the three spawn points can potentially spawn a Legendary ghoul that will have a random low level legendary weapon or armor. The higher the difficulty level, the more likely legendary ghouls will spawn (for a total of 3). Survival will give the best chances for legendaries to spawn.

Walking through the doorway into the next room will spawn 3 ghouls in the basemant. There is a staircase going down near the generator. Note to your left would be a hallway leading to a storage area; ignore it for now. Go in and kill all the ghouls hopefully one of the spawning ghouls will be legendary. When you are done (hopefully you got a legendary item), head towards the storage area I said to ignore. On your left there should be a yellow box that you can unlock for crap. Go there unlock and grab whatever crap there is. Make another save at this point. Walk into the storage room and two ghouls will spawn (at least they do in my game). Again hopefully one of them will be legendary. Collect whatever you want and proceed out.

Before going past the doorway which separates the front of Super Duper Mart and back of the store save the game again. Walking past the doorway should spawn another 3 ghouls at the other side of the isles near the entrance. Hopefully one of them will be legendary as well. Now that you defeat all 8 spawning ghouls as well as the other 14 "resident" ghouls (at least in my game) you can head back out to Lexington.

If legendary ghouls do not spawn or you do not like the legendary item you received you can always reload at the above save points I mentioned. However, do not get too greedy because reloading the game until you finally get whatever legendary item you want can literally take several hours and you can still end up with nothing you really want. After a certain point in time just stop and go back to playing the game rather than trying to farm legendary items. I believe it takes 20 game days for the ghouls in Super Duper Mart as well as all enemies in Lexington (will be marked as "Cleared") to respawn.

As for not getting XP for killing ghouls... now that is odd...

There are things happening all around you. I'm sure you have heard distant firefights while wandering around. If you happen onto the scene, you will find dead, lootable bodies.
