Mirelurk Queen

Post » Fri Jan 15, 2016 1:16 am

I was fighting the one at Murkwater Construction, basically strafing around the ol' girl with Les Fusill Teribles in a very panicky way, drugs were involved, and she just....sorta leaned forward not dead yet, but she wasn't attacking.

I guess I had crippled her legs.

So I yelled "WE EAT WELL TONIGHT!" and busted out Grognak's axe and wailed on her till she gave me that sweet sweet meat.

There's other enemies with similar hp, but the queen has ridiculous dmg resistance and the best offense out of all of them.

There easy. I killed one with power armour and a sledgehammer. She stops spawning enemies up close and rarely shoots acid if your close. If you make a good mellee character even in hard mode I needed no stimpacks

To be fair I think I was level 40 though. The first time I met one and when I did this

That's nothing...

I killed one on ultra-hard-core-instakill-death-by-rad-chocolate mode with both of my arms crippled and wearing no armor. I equipped a pencil in my mouth and kept jabbing what looked like her knee caps until the lead poisoning overtook her and she dropped like Subway's Jared Fogel.

Seriously now, at level 40-50 they become super easy, you can kill them with 2-3 shots, preferably banked criticals to their weak spot. You can snipe them from 2 football fields away, cause criticals never miss anyway. 50 cal or Gauss. And they don't even get to react.

Luxury.

We had to get up at 2am, half an hour before we went to bed, drink a cup of hot sulphuric acid, work a 36 hour day down at t'mill, and when we got home our mam and dad would cut us to pieces w'carving knife and then dance on our graves singing "halleluiah!"

And if you tell young people that today, they won't belive you.

Meh. They were the toughest enemy at the very release but as people reached higher and higher levels, it became clear there are much tougher enemies to deal with. At level 55 in maxed X-01 power armour, they can barely take 30% of my hp in a prolonged fight. However, Super mutant Warlords, especially if you play on very hard/survival, can shred you in 15 seconds , power armour or no.

Its called "sixual dimporphism" or something in real-world.. Its an actual thing;

In select species, the size of the female is giant compared to the male, one protects the other.

You could look at it from a logical point of view (which bethesda rarely does) and think "well.. The queens obviously evolved to produce and protect eggs while the kings are basically just sperm donors"

Basically, especially in the sea-life. For Deathclaws, both are extremely protective of their young, but none are protective as the mother Deathclaw, who's noticeably larger than even an Alpha male, and would eviscerate anything that harms it's young.

That's when I pulled out my explosive combat shotgun. Yeah, it's overpowered, but that's why I carry it around.

So lucky to find it reasonably early in the game. Will never give it up.

Be REAL careful and don't sell it.

I had an "Incendiary" one that I think I looted off of a Blood bug or beaver-rat or something (maybe a rabid Legendary Honey Badger Minx). Loved that thing. Souped it up and named it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=748IjOdrjwg and cherished it.

Then one day, after a flurry of selling off stuff to buy more fertilizer and plastic to make more Jet, I realized I seemed to have sold it :(

Lucikly, some time ago, I found a SECOND Incendiary Legendary combat Shotgun inside a Mole Rats innards, so I'm back in action with a fully souped up "Def Leppard II"!!
