Can't get the Legendary effect I want

Hello,



I am doing the autosave thing to refresh the Legendary effect of a weapon.


I am trying to get the Two Shot/Instigating Missile Launcher, but I'm beginning to think it just isn't possible.



I keep getting the same effects:



-Assassin's


-Crippling


-Enraging


-Exterminator's


-Freezing


-Ghoul Slayer's


-Hunter's


-Irradiated


-Junkie's


-Kneecapper


-Nocturnal


-Mighty


-Staggering


-Troubleshooters



Some are extremely common, like the Assassin's. Others, like the Mighty only extremely rarely.



I've been trying for 5+ hours of reloading the autosave, and each and every time I get one of these prefixes.


Is it possible that some weapons just don't spawn with certain prefixes?


If anyone has a Missile Launcher with another prefix than in the list, please let me know.


I would hate to find out all the effort I put in it turns out to be a waste of time because it just ain't gonna happen.

I feel reloading autosaves are a waste of time, just play the game on survival, go to a place with a lot of ghouls and you get many legendary drops.

Did you try farming glowing sea? Try super mutant locations too, they always have [censored] rocket launchers....

I just spent roughly 12 hours in the mission where you retrieve the courser chip because I realized evey time I ran through the building there would be roughly 6-7 random legendary spawns. I would run the whole building mowing them down in the hopes of finding one of an exact list of weapon/prefix combos, if I didn't I would reload the save from when I first entered the building and did it all again. After 12 hours, while I found some cool stuff, I did not find what I was after.



In the end though I noticed a trend of items and prefixes that would pop up quite often, and very often in the same configuration. I've come to the conclusion that either the level of the enemy, or the type of the enemy plays a big part in what it drops.



Of course I could be wrong, but this is just based on what I personally observed.

It's sadly Random. Took me over 10 hours Reloading till i got the Explosive Minigun even with the Autosave Trick. Well it was on a Ghul maybe I should have tried it on a Supermutant oder Brotherhood of Steel. ^^

i really dislike the legendary system in this game.



-it ruins unique weapons.


-its fourth generation RNG (random chance of a legendary, then random if its armor or weapon, then random what kind of armor or weapon, then random what the effects is. . .there is a "yo dawg" meme in there)


-even if you didn't care you have to live with the fact that your weapon is never as good as the lucky / mighty / 2 shot /etc. weapons out there :(



its not random, its arbitrary.

Most legendaries I find are either melee weapons, or a legendary on the worst possible weapon type. +25% fire rate on a hunting rifle? +15 bleed per hit on a revolver? Double damage to target with full health on a pipe-gun? Anything effect related to crits in vats.



I once got an assault rifle with +10 plasma damage (unlike the DoTs, it actually improves with damage up perks and mods.) A pipe-gun with +25% fire rate and +15% reload speed is actually semi-decent. A 10mm pistol with flat +25% more damage. A laser musket that ignores 30% of a target's armor. I'm already investing into rifleman... this thing is my sniping/anti-power armor machine. The right effects on the right weapons is godly. The right effects on the wrong weapons is like being cheated out of something nice. The wrong effects just make a weapon like any other, only I can't scrap them.

It also destroys immersion. I mean wtf is radroach doing with a hunting rifle? Don't tell me it ate it's former owner or something like that. I get the feeling this whole game was made for players who don't care if the world they play in makes sense or not and only care about fighting explosions and the like.

Was going to suggest that mod as well, it's pretty cool. Let's you apply the legendary effect you want with a heavy cost in rare materials and caps to balance it out a bit. I hate that I get a ton of legendaries in my playthroughs and NONE of them benefit the build I actually play at that moment.

I think I found the worst possible legendary yesterday - Ghoul Slayers Gamma Gun. Not sure if the legendary effect heals them more than the gun itself or if the net is zero, but it's a stupid combo.

Kinda know what you mean. I've been waiting for powered synth leggings, which are rare enough to drop, but apparently there are different variations of them, and I'm looking for the minimalist design that shows the most skin on my PC, who wears the grognak costume as well. As a result, I never go above 100 DR and that is already with max ranked Toughness. but then again its the endless pursuit that keeps me going.

I really think there is something more contributing to what the item that generates is going to be. After hours of doing it and hundreds (litterally hundreds) of so called "random" legendary spawns every piece was one of the same 20 items with a random legendary prefix. For example, every piece of armor I got was either metal, raider, or leather, each being the lowest version for it's respective armor type (i.e. no sturdy or heavy leather armor, just plain ole leather armor with a legendary prefix), and not a single heavy gun, all the guns that did spawn were typically the same type, that being either a double barrel or a sub machine gun (with a couple pipe guns in there and 1 or 2 laser pistols).



Everything I'm seeing is pointing to the notion that the level (either yours or your enemies) and the type of enemy is having some effect on what is spawning.

I keep getting the worst possible weapons such as baseball bat or club or pipe wrench and so on, rarely any armor parts (and if so, i quickly frown noticing its a raider piece :x ) and / or a weapon i would use or eventually save it somewhere .


Was quite happy to get the two shot machinegun and assassin's 10mm pistol, but besides of these, my luck with legendaries it beyond terrible.

The only thing I dont like about legendaries is that you cant scrap them in there respective work bench.
