Tactical thinking will fail. You can take it,just don't accept the mission from kells.
To get the railroad ending you have to avoid doing some bos quests too, this does not mean that a railroad victory is not intended.

I wish there is an ending with Institute and BoS intact, even if it's an oversight like with BoS ending where RR is alive. I don't give a crap about the RR, but BoS and Institute are both my favorite factions. :\
Not actually true. I just finished a game where Tactical Thinking triggered. I avoided Kells until after Nuclear Option with the Minutemen (Tactical Thinking auto-fails when you complete Defend the Castle), then went back and spoke with him. He gave me the stolen provisions quest, followed by training the squires radiant quests.
Of course, I can never speak to PAM again, because she's still bugged beyond belief (though with me she simply doesn't initiate dialogue), and for some reason Des thinks Glory is dead, even when Glory is standing right next to her, but otherwise... it all worked out pretty well.
...that doesn't really follow. I get that you view the BoS as dominating Nazis hell-bent on conquering the wasteland, and there's even some in-game clues that they're headed that way, but saying "if you follow this faction's quest until you're exterminating a faction that's smuggling what your faction considers to be threats to humanity away it must necessarily mean you're never intended to have the option of peace with an unrelated faction" isn't a logical conclusion at all.
Also, again, there's unique dialogue from the Brotherhood of Steel commenting on a Minutemen ending. If they went through the time of recording that dialogue, it's clearly an intended possible outcome. If you think it's not plausible, then don't go for that ending.
Ahah PAM asks me to kill BoS remnants lol
Who?Those guys in the flying airship? What? No!We didn't destroy it!
As a side note, my Minutemen have just over 100 pieces of artillery covering every sector of the Commonwealth, and also took out the Institute single-handedly. The Brotherhood may be belligerent and expansionist, but they're not suicidal.
Yeah, in mine she just repeats the "We're being attacked" protocols and doesn't speak to me otherwise. It's great. Except when Drummer Boy won't shut up about PAM wanting to talk to me. Then it's not great.
The minutemen are pretty much the same as the Yes Men ending of NV.They'll always have your back no matter what a mess you create.
The minutemen are pretty much what you make them to be.They can be a ragtag band of hillbillies if you neglect them or can become an expansive army of volunteers with an immense firepower at their disposal. And possibly the most well defended compound in the commonwealth. The castle +30 missile turrets? Come at me bro!
Also for whatever reason the minutemen ending seems more personal than the BoS to me,if that makes any sense.
However I'll never understand what the BoS paladins are talking about when they say that the minutemen have too much power after the ending. What happened that I missed? An army of gen 1 synths just showed up wearing Minutemen colors?
Or is it just because of the popular ovation?
