Perhaps the most annoying part of Nuclear Option (Minutemen)

Railroad and the Institute have been at war for decades and they would definitely get in the way of the Institute's future ambitions. And the longer they were left alone, the higher was the chance that Railroad somehow got the ability to harm the Institute. They may need the SS now, but what about the times to come?

Railroad and BoS would NEVER get along. They first exist to save the Synths, the later exist to slaughter every last one of them. And no, the BoS does not care about Synths beign under Institute or not: they were created precisely to control or destroy any creation of technology. Enslaving the Synths and mem-wiping any free will out of them is the least the BoS would lower themselves to.

And finding Railroad is not really that hard. The idiots literally put their symbol in front of their hiding place and then ANOTHER inside just to tell you where you need to go.

There are two choices for them:

1. Make peace or even alliance with them - Institute route

2. If MM and Institute become enemies, they have no choice but to destroy them - the Institute is way too powerful, especially now that they solved their energy problem, and this is the last chance you have to take care of them... and they are too numerous to just be conquered

The MM would prefer the first option, and will only go for the second if you become the Institute's enemy.

The RR and BoS, both of which dream of destroying the Institute, will always go for the second option. For the reasons stated above, they can either blow them up or surrender. The Institute is too powerful for anything less.

Do you people even know WHAT the BoS are?

They are an organization formed for the sole purpose of destroying, or stealing if possible, any high advanced technology and they see hesitation as a bad thing. They believe this way they will save the world and they will even murder a random wastelander for just having a laser pistol.

In other words, they would be seeking to exterminate the Synths even if they were just something created by the pre-war people. They don't care if they are controlled by the Institute or not: every creation of high advanced technology must be either taken or destroyed. Thus, Synths must be exterminated.

And no, all the "Synths are humans too" stuff does not matter to BoS. The BoS has a bad reputation for killing harmless humans for less then being Synths. They are exceptiosn like Lyons but they are just that: exceptions.

The BoS will search for them and if they can't find them alone, they will try to find the Railroad agents and torture any useful information out of them. They may even start slaughtering innocent civilians just because one of them might be a Synth.

Diplomatic Minutemen ending is the Institute ending achieved with you being the MM General (as you now rule both factions). The MM ending is the one where you decided to destroy the Institute as you MUST make the Institute your enemy to get into the MM route. The quest Pinned is the moment when you decide if you want to destroy the Institute or make peace and ally these two factions.

I'd call him an idiot. The Railroad are fanatical and are not going to honor that agreement.

*facepalm* This is done for gameplay reasons: Beth does not want to punish you for finishing the MQ by making those quests unavailable. At least unlike Preston they don't force you to do it which is just lazy game design.

The NPCs DO talk about your character playing a role in the future. Will that be part of a DLC or just the lore remains to be seen.

The Institute replaces people for espionage, ability to conduct experiments, control important political positions, to safely collect rations and resources, etc.

There is no overreaching scheme or a single motive for replacements: this is a tool, not a goal. Since they could not teleport too many of their Synths at once, this was the best method to solve many problems until they got their reactor working.

He clearly bought it from Mr. Burke, who, with his scheme foiled, didn't need it anymore :P

I'd find it a lot more satisfying to subvert that damn catchphrase, personally.

lol I noticed that too...I chose the BoS/Minuteman combo and I noticed they were shooting the scientists with their hands up, and of course there's no way to stop it.

But I did choose to alert the compound and allow them to evacuate.
