As soon as I entered goodneighbor for the 1st time I noticed Deacon among the crowd. He's labelled Drifter at the time but you can tell its him. I tried approaching him but he wont say a word but now I know how he knows so much about us.

Yes, I slit his throat during the night. If you killed him, you'd become enemies with the RR instantly.

Yeah, you'll actually notice him in various disguises in LOTS of places. You can find him as a Drifter in Goodneighbor, as a Caravan Guard in Bunker Hill, etc. I've even seen him as a farmer. I thought you accusing him of spying on you when you first meet him at the Railroad was flavor text, but I really noticed him on the fringes of where ever I was on my second playthrough.

Yea Deacon will appear nearly everywhere but the Institute and shadow you, that's probably why he was so quick to vouch for you when meeting the railroad.

If you look closely enough you will see that he was the unsmashed egg in the deathclaw quest from salem.

If you look closely he was spying you in vault 111 pretending to be frozen in a cryo-pod.

Also in the glowing sea he pretends to bee a ghoul skinny dipping in the rad-ponds.

yea i found him spying at bunker hill. i was pretty baffled. you can make him say a few lines then he tells you to F off.
