Has anyone else had any issues when completing the 'Powering Up' quest for the Institute?

I went to Diamond City Radio and I have already previously placed the radio parts in the wrong order and left without realising it was related to the 'Powering Up' Quest. Upon highlighting the quest to continue with story and going back to Diamond City Radio, the 3 radio parts are already placed but in the wrong order and you can't remove them. The game will give you a button prompt to remove them but your character will say he needs to find the radio parts. The quest pin will also be pointing to the box underneath the console where the 3 radio parts were found but it is now empty.

I've tried everything to get them out. I even tried to get Dogmeat to fetch in the area to see if he could remove them but had no success. Ideally I don't want to have to revert back to an old save and playthrough most of story again.

If anyone could help that would be great!
