Post » Fri Jan 15, 2016 6:04 am

I'm level 14 almost 15.

I have 600 def 390 power thing and 1050 radiation I have 600 caps and weps that are slightly modded but mostly every gun I can attain at that level however I am short on ammo in every gun apart from a pipe pistol that has about 25 ammo . Ive also got the starting power armor with b version on the leg and I'm in mission called lost patrol and I've got to investigate satellite array. The problem is I just keep dying and I'm confused on how I'm supposed do this? I walk in and I just get killed easily and have no ammo. Am I missing some amazing gun? How do I get ammo? All of my weapons are out and I don't know what to do, I've tried doing another mission called unlikely valentine and the same happens , I just get rent. I have been racing through the brotherhood missions, am I suppose to wait till I do this one? Pls help

Try farming levels (and gear and ammo) for a while. A good way to do this is to do repeat missions for the Minutemen guy Preston. Loot everything.

You're too far out for you gear and level. Lost Patrol is out by West Everett Estates, which is meant for Lv 15-25. Pull back to Cambridge and stay north of the river for a couple more levels.

For ammo conservation:

? use .38 as much as you can for now, so you can stockpile other types - 10mm, .45 cal and fusion cells become plentiful later.

? Carry a melee weapon for minor enemies.

? Stick to semi-auto weapons till you have several hundred rounds.

? Use VATS - time your shots and go for the noggin - fewer misses, faster kills = less ammo used

Remember, Agility = Action Points and Petception = VATS accuracy, so any combat build will want points in those stats. Also, a high PER helps you spot enemies before they spot you.

Regarding the PA, if you really want to use it this early then head to the Robotics Disposal Ground and grab the Hot Rodder magazine there - it'll let you paint your PA with a flame job that'll add +1 Agility per piece - up to +6 Agility is a massive boost.

Don't worry about the quest - it'll wait. Come back in a few levels and you'll storm it. ?

If you hoof it like a bat out of hell you can get a T45 set as soon as you leave your vault.

And then I found out there was a duplication glitch, so I duplicated a bunch of the "You're SPECIAL" book and got all of my SPECIAL stats to 10.

Thanks for the help guys. Regarding the farming technique with preston, how do I do that? I've just hit a mission where I have to meet the minutemen at a castle which is far east in the map so Preston is gone at the moment. And with staying back from the river, I have no missions before that other than a brotherhood one to recover flux sensors. All of my missions are east of diamond city should I be doing those yet?

Also is there a way to get a constant supply of radiation free food? Most of my current food has radiation, I've cooked a few to make non radiation food however I don't see the point of like carrots for instance if they have radiation on them?

You can kill and loot the meat of any of the animals (or insects) that attack you and cook it at the cooking station (there's one in Sanctuary next to the bridge leading to Red Rocket) to get rid of the radiation. You can also kill those radstags for more meat but you'll need to shoot them quite a bit (about a clip or so from an un-upgraded pipe rifle) and might need to chase them if they try to run. If you loot the junk you find and get the Gun Nut perks you'll be able to mod and improve your guns considerably and even an upgraded pipe rifle is more than enough to easily kill a raider which is very good since .38 ammo is easy to get from dead raiders.

Also, the NW part of the map is the safest part of the map for low-level characters to grind until you get better equipment and perks. The southern side of the river from Relay Tower 1DL-109, to Diamond City, to Holy Mission Congregation Church is also fairly safe but you can run into tougher enemies quickly if you venture too far south, southwest, or east. The owner of the weapon shop at Diamond City sells combat rifles and combat shotguns (not all the time, but often), once you get them you'll have the firepower you need to take on many of the more dangerous enemies (though this'll also depend on the quality and quantity of your armor, ammo, and aid items). You might also want more powerful drugs, just by mixing one of two kinds of drugs you can get a more powerful drug that provides the benefits of both. The drugs I like to use are Psycho Jet (1 psycho and 1 jet are all that's needed) and Bufftats (1 buffout and 1 mentats). Anyway, the game gets easier once you get metal or combat armor, better weapons, and enough levels to put some points into some good perks (like Rifleman and Gun Nut for modding).

Yeah, you are exploring too far too fast. You are going into areas where you are at the minimum level or below. I would say stop exploring and doing quests for now and simply farm for armor, weapons, & junk you can sell for caps and then buy ammo. I recall ammo being scarce up to around level 14, but I never actually ran out of ammo for my guns. I was primarily using pipe rifles because raiders use them, so they are more or less easy to get.... I do remember having a very hard time finding 10mm ammo though.

You want to get the Scrounger perk as soon as you can so that you can find more ammo; I think there are two levels for it. Cap Collector increases the amount of caps you can find; I think there are also two levels. Later on in the game if you decide you want to build settlements Cap Collector is a requirement to build shops.

I farmed the crash site of Skylane Flight 1981 which is south of Outpost Zimonja. Everytime I fast travel there enemies always respawns. I always crouch before going there so that I have a chance to sneak back and not engage in combat because there are always two enemy factions fight each other there. I would wait for the fighting to die down before going in to clean up whoever is left. Sometime one of the factions is the Minutemen so they are friendly. Be careful though because some of the enemies there can be pretty tough like the Gunners, or even worse, Child of Atom with their Gamma Guns which can cause a lot of radiation damage. But gamma guns are worth a lot of caps.

There is an ammo box, a safe, a duffel bag and plenty of suit cases to unlock. Plenty of chances to pick up clothing pieces that can boost your charisma if you wear them which will get you better prices when you trade with others. There are also 3 randomly generated weapons: one next to the duffel bag, one next to a secret compartment (master locksmith) that is in the lower deck of the wrecked plane (luggage compartment) and one in a bathroom in the upper deck.

While enemies respawn every time to fast travel there, all the containers and 3 weapons respawns after 480 in-game hours; or 2 weeks. The secret compartment does not respawn.

Take the perk who let you find more ammo in containers.

Also ammo is level scaled, you can buy very good guns early but you will have serious problems getting ammo to them.

Upgrade guns and armor, you can combine parts from found weapons even if you can not craft the part, you just need to craft the basic part as an replacement and them add the good part on the gun with good parts.

Carry multiple types of weapons too, one .38 pipe rifle for standard enemies.
