In term of roleplaying, do you steal?

Post » Fri Jan 15, 2016 2:50 am

Everyone in the Commonwealth is just trying to survive, do you steal from people to benefit your own or just from annoying folks? It feels weird to steal from children in this game, especially Sheng Kawolski who is just a kid and just trying to make a living. If you steal, do you have any justification or is it just out of personal profit? Some items like mini nukes are just too good to pass up sometimes.

Prime character I didn't because I usually make my first character have my morals. But the new character I just started playing the DiD runthrough with is going to be an ultimate pragmatist who does whatever it takes. He's going to ignore the Minutemen, steal, feed Mama Murphy drugs, whatever he needs to do to survive. This will be the guy to put a bullet into Danse's head without a second thought.

You and I are now mortal enemies. :P

I see, yeah, it's hard not to steal when there's no repercussion, but a lot of the people, even the traders are very nice, although certain people I don't feel bad to steal from like the Institute informant though, still, stealing is stealing, I guess. I don't steal in real life, but in a post apocalypse, morality is the least of your worries.

Never really have in any TES or FO game. If it's RED I just leave it alone. I never use the drugs either other than RadX, Radaway and Stimpaks. I did drink some booze this time, but that was only because Cait liked it.

Not in FO4. Doesn't fit with a mid 20 early 30 pre-war PC. In Fallout 3 I was a 19 yr old kleptomaniac.

Only at my second playthrough, being the first survival one, in Diamond City guard shack there were too many ammos / stimps to be just left there while i needed them so badly that i just took them, however wasn't exactly an easy task and not as rewarding as i expected it to be, after this moment i didn't needed to steal anything anymore so i was done with.

I'm playing a roguish pragmatic character that thinks of No. 1 first. I like to think of "stealing" as merely taxing the people for the worthy cause of destroying the Institute. I won't steal from someone I actually like though.

I try to avoid stealing as much as possible. ("Do unto others...") But there are quite a few unavoidable instances where it is necessary to gather evidence against a suspected Bad Person. That usually entails breaking into -- "stealing" -- their private computers.

I steal whatever I need and what my sneak skill allows.

Just depends on who I'm playing. My main Fallout 4 character didn't steal anything except the password to a terminal in Haven because people there were covering up a dodgy scenario involving a kidnapping at best and a murder at worst. I almost always play goody two-shoes in Fallout. Thieves usually get reserved for Elder Scrolls.

I tend only to steal from the Triggermen

(because it sits nicely with a quest from Whitechapel Charlie).

I take Cait and do it in my underwear, kills many birds with one stone...

Nope, don't steal. No reason to. Now, if a quest expects me to steal something, then depending on the target, I may do so, but for the most part, people's belongings are safe when I'm around.

Oddly enough, even in areas where I'm allowed to take things from people, I don't take them. For example, Nick Valentine's office has a few things I can freely take, but I don't.

That's just my character's nature. She'll shoot your eye out if you take things from people trying to survive, Raider. ;)

That's funny because I usually feel the same way. Especially after one of the times I did take something from Publick Occurrences and Nat says something snide about it.

To be honest I'd steal weapons, ammunition and armor from those who have lots of it, to defend myself and my people.

And probably a few caps from the rich so we could buy seedlings/food.

I never steal in these types of games, and haven't found a reason to -- unless, of course, it is a requirement for a quest.

I robbed every single domicile and business in Diamond City within the first 50 hours of play. Not sure why, I loathe thieves in real life. But something about Beth games just bring out my inner kleptomaniac.

Maybe I'm not much of a roleplayer? I go around helping common folk with virtually every toon, but then I rob whole towns too. It just seem the "natural" thing to do in a gamesas character-game.
