Help please, I can't complete the slog: greenskins

Post » Sat Jan 16, 2016 5:31 am

It says go kill the super mutants in faneuil hall but I get no quest marker, I kill them anyway and nothing

I have read to give it time and it will time out but it hasn't, others have several times like kidnapping at sanctuary hills but it has been stuck for about a month now, and I've played solid for about 4-5 hours most days...

I'm on PS4, any suggestions or has anyone else been able to resolve this...

Apparently Warwick homestead is a settlement too but I think it is tied to this quest..

Cheers

If Preston Garvey gave you that quest originally, talk to him and see if that triggers a fail. The Greenskins quest, and other quests like it, should have failed after 15 in-game days if it wasn't completed. If it lasted a month without a fail, it must have been bugged.

I had trouble with it until I figured out that I had to kill the boss who was hidden away up by the roof ladder. This time it wasn't an issue as I was able to draw him out. Oddly, I didn't have to kill all of them, but I did anyhow.

Still haven't told Preston though. I just haven't got the motivation to head all the way out to the Castle yet. But, then again, I just got a pink paint job for my X-01, so, who knows, maybe Melinda will head out that way soon. Maybe I'll take Strong. That should confuse the Minutemen. Maybe Preston will think I used diplomacy at Faendal (sorry Faneuil?) Hall? He's not that bright.

Had the same problem with Somerville Place. Was supposed to clear Fallon's department store from Super Mutants (which I had cleared earlier), got no quest marker and the quest didn't complete when I killed them all again. Went through the store and the surrounding area several times to see if I missed anyone, nothing.

Unfortunately, the only way to resolve it for me was to find out the quest ID and reset the quest using the console, so that the settler would give me a new location. This time I was given a quest marker and was able to finish the quest. The old one stayed in my pip-boy and disappeared after some time.

If you have a save from before you accepted the quest, you might want to reload from there if there is no other solution on PS4.

And this points out one of the weaknesses with the Fallout Series that I have experienced repeatedly. Beth games are supposed to be all about exploration and discovery, but, if you "discover" a location and clear it without having been assigned a quest for it then you can't complete another assigned quest because you've already cleared it.

I've even had it happen when I'm assigned the same location for multiple quests.

It seems to be something that goes on with Beth games since I've experienced this same issue with all the Fallout and TES games.

Fortunately, I simply don't care and move on.

Actually, the settlers at Greentop Nursery or at the Slog, don't remember which one it was, asked me to clear out the Greenskins at Breakheart Banks and I had just passed by there and cleared it out. So I was able to tell them that the Mutants have been already dealt with and the quest completed.

Plus, the radiant quests send you repeatedly to the same locations, so clearing it previously shouldn't matter at all. The issue might be that the enemies haven't re-spawned yet?

Well, if you are at the "Talk to Preston" step, eventually the step will complete and you will get credit for the quest. If you are not at that step, it will eventually fail.

Make sure the quest is checked in the pip boy...happens to me a lot when I have more than one quest.

Wait, that thing is respawning on you?

or are you saying you haven't finished the quest yet?

If it is the latter, Preston will continually pester you about it, but you can just ignore his question and conduct the business you went there for.

If it is the former, that isn't suppose to happen. It will probably make one of the quests you get near the end of the game more "interesting".

Not that one, although I have had the hospital one respawn twice on me so far.

And, no, I haven't gone to the Castle yet, I am simply not in the mood for another protracted battle right now. Mac and I just fell in love and are currently doing Silver Shroud stuff.

it's checked, it simply will not fail and will not show any sort of map marker, I can't talk to wiseman, I can't talk to preston and it is the only active quest I have, I got the quest at level 28, I'm now level 78

Hey, man.

I got the same problem. My case is from Abernathy Farm to kill raiders at Federal Rations Stockpile.

No quest marker, tried to fight through, and it can't be finished.

The only way out is by killing the mission giver while the mission is active. In my case, it's Blake Abernathy.

Doing this will mark the mission as failed and it will disappear from your mission list.

Do not reload your data and kill the mission giver without their mission being taken. If you do, the mission will ask you to report to Preston and the mission will stuck in your mission list - grayed out.
