Saving Danse?

Post » Fri Jan 15, 2016 6:20 pm

So I am in a bit of a dilemma, I'm debating on whether or not to side with the institute or minutemen, because well... my, how far the brotherhood has fallen from what they were in 3. Maybe not a total relapse into the jerks in NV, but they were mean from the start, (and can be lightened up by the players actions). The brotherhood here took what I idolized about them and squandered it. Practically every member of the brotherhood trash talks Elder Lyons, are more self-serving than anything else, and I'm really not sure If I'm going to back them in this installment. My companion paladin danse is the only redeeming quality about it, and If I intend to side against the brotherhood, I don't want to kill him. I am aware of the quest that causes him to be exiled by the brotherhood though. And before you ask,http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Danse

So in exile, will he be hostile towards me if I destroy the prydwen/side with any of the other factions? Don't care much for the RR, so it either going to be the institute or MM.

He won't be hostile to you if you finish his personal quest. However, he will basically refuse to talk to you or be your companion anymore. He will basically become a generic settler in whatever settlement he happens to be in at the moment and you will only be able to trade gear with him.

If you spare him to exile in Blind Betrayal and then later on destroy the Prydwen, Danse will refuse to associate with you again.

He owes you his life, but not his friendship.

He only will continue to associate with the Survivor in a BoS or Minuteman ending (the one that does not complete By Our Powers Combined).

Ok, that answers that. I'm fine if he's not a companion anymore, I just didn't want to kill him off.

He's only hostile if you either a) take him with you to the attack on BoS assets or b ) have not completed Blind Betrayal, at which point he's one of the reinforcements that arrives to try to stop you.

I like the brotherhood. Although I usually do a male "good" play through and a female "bad" playthrough. I feel like during my "good" playthrough I'm faced without of morally grey decisions. In fact I feel far from "good".

I executed Danse. It's been the first time in a long time that this medium has given me real pause. In the end I figured his death was the most honorable thing for him and Maxon together. Danse's entire being was the Brotherhood, he talked a lot of those that died along beside him fighting against technology out of control. To talk him into accepting exile seemed to me to belittle both their sacrifices and his. By dying even as a synth he was dying for the brotherhood and for the brotherhoods creed, something he would have gladly done in battle.

Even though it wasn't the playthrough I expected I am loving the beotherhood story line.

In this world, there is no innocence, only degrees of guilt.

Believe it or not, Danse still has people who care and believe in him. His entire life was nothing but hardship, being an orphan, no one ever love him, his best friend died, he found the reason for living within the BoS and they want to kill him, worst yet, everything he thought was real turn out to be a life. Killing him at that point does him no favor. It basically makes his entire existence entirely miserable and die without ever feeling happy or wanted. I don't mind if people killing him out of principle or their belief, but it wouldn't be for his sake. There are BoS members who still wants to side with him, people who secretly to hangs out with him and brings him clothes and food whenever possible like scribe Haylen. Other people like Codsworth and even Deacon who consider him a friend. He could still help the BoS from the shadow, and it makes him happy. Once he becomes exiled, he knows who his true friends are and he has a new perspective on life, seeing as he likes it more when you believe in synth's rights. After the quest at max relationship, he stated that for the first time in his life, he's finally happy.

Is that like a bug because I did the Minutemen ending without completing the blind betrayal, so now he ignores me. I want him to be my companion. Bug or actual game? I wanna say it's a bug and hope they patch it in an update or whatever because I want him to be my companion because he's awesome

The BoS will assume you did Blind Betrayal, many BoS members talk about it as if you did the quest. It's more of an oversight than anything since there are so many variables they can't account for. Danse still being in BoS after the ending is probably one of them.

Sounds like a bug or what Battlebloodmage was saying. I did Blind Betrayal and the Minutemen ending and he was fine. The only time he's *supposed* to ignore you is if you max affinity and then destroy or aggro the Brotherhood. If you destroy or aggro the Brotherhood without max affinity he becomes hostile.

It might depend on what quests you do.

i did the Minuteman ending and am friendly with BOS.

I had sent Danse to a settlement earlier in the game after he had been my companion and he had come to admire me.

Later, after blowing up the scientists, when i saw Danse at the settlement that I had sent him to he mentioned something about me bringing peace to the Commonwealth.

He's still keen to go on the road with me again.

Fat chance as I find him annoying.

So pretty much everything all of you are saying is that this is a bug. How can the game think I did the quest though? Only the BOS ending has the Blind Betrayal quest right? Did this thing happen because I had Liberty Reprimed as a quest (I think active) He was planted with the bombs in the glowing sea. Things happened I turned around to the Minutemen ending. I failed Liberty Reprimed, so did this mission fail cause him to start ignoring me? I mean I'm friendly with the BOS, and the last thing he did say was talking about bringing peace to the commonwealth. As I said Haylen has talked to me about "thanks for hearing Danse out" But all of the other people haven't talked about him. They all keep talking about how the Minutemen blew up the institute and how it was them that should've blown it up blah blah blah. In the end this is a bug, that I'm not the only one that's getting it? This NEEDS to be patched in the dlc update or whatever.
