Need Help - Fallout 4 crashes after installing new videocard

Post » Sat Jan 16, 2016 6:46 am

Name I'm not sure of, but it's an 850w power supply and I did plug both 6 pin and 8 pin connectors in.

If it uses less than 75W during Idle then it would still work.

Have you tried it? :P

Because i doubt a R9 290 will ever boot to windows without those two connectors.

Your right, without both connectors, it will not even boot to BIOS.

Can you upload your save for testing?

I would prefer it be uploaded to OneDrive, Google Drive, or Dropbox. ESET has tinyupload backlisted.

Think I found the problem - figured I'd play Fallout 3 to see if it works. Started to play - smelt something burning and then the screen went blank. Think the new video card is bad ?? Put the old card back in.

Running other games fine?

Have you opened your case to look?

Switch off your PSU, and put the current cable out behind the PSU as well.

Then press the power button from your case a couple of times, then open and examine inside your case

Shutdown and switch off your power and pull out the plug. Check where the burning smell comes from? If its the card then you can return it. If not check if its your motherboard or PSU.

Did all that - built computer about a year ago and all works fine - new parts all around. Now when I start to play a game with the new video card - it shuts the whole computer down. Has to be the card..

Update - just for the heck of it, I pulled the old card and reinstalled the new video card - no video at all when I fired up the computer - has to be the card.
