At which level can I get the CHA and INT bobbleheads

Post » Sat Jan 16, 2016 1:38 am

Hi guys,

I'm planning my build and will need to raise my charisma and intelligence fairly early for specific perks, but not beyond that point. In order not to waste points, I would like to know at which levels I can reasonably expect to pick up the charisma and intelligence bobbleheads.

Note that I have read the wiki posts / viewed the youtube videos on where to find them, but being new to the game it is hard to assess at which level I can expect to reach these areas without dying, being noted that:

- the charisma bobblehead is in a building (parson's state insane asylum) that can be accessed only through a quest line and that

- the intelligence bobbleheads is in an area (Boston public library) guarded by super mutants, and to enter you need either advanced lock picking or to successfully pass a speech check

Any estimate on the level at which these should be reachable?

Thanks in advance,

Nostra

I waited till my character built up his stealth skills before tackling the library, my character was in his 20's before getting both bobbleheads.

Note: You'll need to have "Advanced" lockpicking skill to open the door. Be warned there's a [censored]load of Super Mutants and library security (bots and turrents) in there, Also if you enter from the side door, there's a grenade trip wire just inside of the door, so make sure to stop when entering and look down to disarm it.

If the Intelligence bobblehead is in the Boston Public Library, then you can get a quest from Daisy to send you there. Daisy is one of the vendors in Good Neighbor. (I don't remember it being there, but some of the stuff blurs together.)

I don't know about what level... I did Parsons in the mid-teens on my current character, with minimal issues. I may have died once through sheer carelessness. As for the Library... I don't find the super mutants that hard once into the teens as well. Also, there probably wouldn't be suiciders in there either, due to close confines. Plus you get to return Overdue Library books! :D

Thanks guys for the quick answers.

So if I read you well, I'll get access to both bobbleheads around level 15-20.

If anybody has other views, please share!

Thanks,

My view is to forget role-playing for a while in this game, don't try to rush it. I've retired three PC's and currently working on the fourth. None of the other three really ever got to actually do the RP I was planning for them. Granted I rushed them through as I was looking for the ending mostly, but all got around level 35-40. But it takes a really long time to get the skills/perks needed to really 'play that character' you started.

Unlike other games here you basically start as a blank slate. You don't start off as a certain class that already has some skills. You can't pick a race that has some skill/abilities to help your RP. You are basically always just a plain Joe with nothing to start with other than being able to set your initial SPECIAL so you can one day hopefully get that perk you want. It makes the game really slow and really repetitive for the first 20 levels or so.

I would have loved it if instead of being set as the male is a military vet and the female an attorney, instead we picked our pre-war profession and that profession would start us off with some skills that would be associated with it. Doesn't it seem odd anyway that the military vet has no perks in any gun skills or the attorney has no persuasion skills of any kind?

I've been to the library many many times with different characters and not once have I seen a SM suicider in there, mostly regular super mutants, brutes and an occasional legendary butcher. Also, when you come through the side door and disarm the grenade trip wire, if you walk or sneak up far enough in the room, three super mutants will come through the same door behind you, so check your flank, because you will surprised. I always positioned myself between the file cabinets (right of the door along the wall) and sneaked up just far enough to trigger the event. They passed right by me without detecting me. Most of the SM will come from the hallway just in front of you if you use that particular door. I waited for the three to run thru the door, took them out, then repositioned myself by the door and took out the ones coming down the hallway.

You can get them as soon as you leave vault 111, but it'll definitely be a challenge.

Getting to Good Neighbor should be easy enough, so start the quest with Daisy. You should have CHR 3+ before going to BPL as you can pass a speech check with security to get in (save before you do this, as even a high CHR can still fail thanks to the piss poor RNG factor). Once you get inside, you'll need to make your way to the bobblehead as quickly as you can. I highly recommend memorizing the layout so you can duck into areas to way until the search threat is over.

As for the INT bobblehead, that's going to be tremendously difficult at early level. Because of the way the quest is structured, the first order of business is getting to Bunker Hill to start the quest. Then, you need to go near downtown to Cabot's house, perform a quest, then return, which starts the quest at the asylum. Getting there runs the risk of bumping into the 1 or 2 Deathclaws in the area, but if you manage to clear them, then you face the waves of Gunners, as well as the fights inside the asylum.

You can easily level up a few times going after it, so you can always spend a perk or two on buffs.

Good luck! :)

Small note here...you got them mixed up. Intelligence is at the Boston Public Library and Charisma is at the Parson's Insane Asylum.

Don't think you can do the Cabot House quest line until level 10. Thats when Edward Deegan will give you the quest. You can't get into the Insane Asylum until this quest is unlocked, to grab the CHR bobblehead. You can go to the library anytime I think. I've only tried it with Daisy's quest active, but i don't see why you can't go there without the quest? And its not too hard in there. Theres lots of robots and turrets to help you against the super mutants.

I can't speak for what you'll find inside Boston Public Library, as I've never gotten around to going inside, but I walk by there regularly. Frankly, if you can get to Diamond City, you can get to the Library. The only group of enemies I can remember on my way to Boston Commons (which is just East of the Library) is a group of Super Mutants, and you can run past them quite easily. Barring a random encounter, you should have no problem getting to the Library very early. Handling whatever is inside, though, is up to you.
