Timed quests?

Post » Sat Jan 16, 2016 8:47 am

I just got a notice that I was running out of time to complete a Sanctuary quest. Problem is I have 3 of them so I'm not sure which one they mean. How can I tell and how does it effect things?

The kidnapping quests and the raider/ghoul/super mutant problems quests are timed. The rest of them shouldn't be. What quests specifically do you have open from Sanctuary?

I have a super mutant quest that I've been putting off because there's a legendary super mutant over the ridge I have to take out as well and he's been too tough. I'll give it another go. I just got the notification so hopefully I have time and won't have to backtrack on saves.

Okay so it says I've failed the quest Clearing the way for Sanctuary Hills and that I need to tell Preston we won't get their support. I have no idea what this quest is and it didn't even appear until I 'failed' it. I can't talk to Preston about it because there's no option in the conversation so .... errrrr.... help?

Get a missile launcher or mini nukes. Traders in Diamond City sells them. If you have messed up the quests, you should really consider to reload earlier saved game. Even some npc are higher lvl than you, mini nukes or missiles do their job.

I don't know what quest got messed up. The weird thing is I loaded a save before the fail and waited 24 hours. I then got a notice that the quest was starting and then it failed and I should talk to Preston. None of my current quests were removed either.

There may be a "misc" quest you have missed. Some "misc" quests will trigger automatically, example is "settlement under attack". If youre close to MM guys, they also trigger quests without even speak to any of them. Just be carefull of waiting so long as 24 hours. Reload a saved game where you think you have time enough. Do the quests in your journal, if npc too hard - get better weapons in Diamond City and avoid of waiting. If you need to wait, just take 5-6 hours at the same time.

I checked a save before I got the running out of time notification, a save right after and my last save. The only misc quests are getting jet for Mama Murphy and search for scrap. There is no Clearing the way quest so I have no idea what to do about. I can't talk to Preston and I'm still able to use the workshop at Sanctuary Hills. I had finished the super mutant quest so that was checked off. I have 2 other settlement quests still in play; one new one and another with the settlement too far south for me to travel to yet.

I'm just going to have to go with this is a bug and ignore it. I can't select that quest and the only option under it (Talk to Preston) is checked.

note the ref id's for the workbenches at the target locations.

use player.moveTo to teleport to them.

other than fast travelling, this takes up 0 time.

got all workbenches in a list, pretty much solves all timed defense problems.

(still dislike it since i usually don't fast travel and/or cheat, but the timed defense quests are one of 3 things where i feel like fo4 kind of forces me to cheat just to not go freak (the other 2 ones being tlc for settlement building, and i allow myself to open 1 central container (the dc workbench) from any workbench i find, until i got my Cache Sacks mod ready for use anyway)
