i was able to get garvey's perk, but he won't be my follower. been this way for some time. anyone know of a work-around? i mostly just want to deck him out in BOS gear, because he talks so much crap about them. i have no desire to actually use him. i don't care if abernathy got his wife/daughter kidnapped. again.

danse will follow me, but i can't get his perk. i cheesed affection a lot. a whole lot. enter exit power armor, mod weapon, mod armor, save, load, repeat. i even tried some negative affection hits to try to knock somethin loose. still no perk.

any help would be appreciated.

To get max affinity with Danse you must complete his personal quest (Blind Betrayal) which involves progressing quite far in the BOS quest line and passing some difficult persuasion checks.

I don't know what's going on with Preston. That sounds like a bug. Do you not have the dialog option for him to join you anymore or does he just ignore you if you take that option?

As the above poster said, you need to get far enough into the BoS quest line until you are given "Blind Betrayal". If you've appealed to Danse as much as you have (as I had), then you should have his affinity maxed out once that quest is finished.

when i talk to him, he sends me off to go save the world, of course. i do typically 3 missions, and when i return to talk to him, i get mission completions, but when i try to talk to him again, he just says one of his 'i got your back' lines, or his 'is this a better time for that talk' spiel.

Wish I knew what to say about Preston, hope that this somehow fixes itself eventually. At least you got his perk already.

For Danse, just be sure you have good Charisma, or Quicksave before speech checks. And you'll know you've come to the quest when it is given to you. I'm not going to spoil anything.

I noticed that he will usually give me 3 missions at a time before he will revert to normal dialog. So if he's given you 3 missions, I'd try speaking to him again before completing them. I also know he has at least 1 post perk conversation which is probably just another chance to start his romance. You may have to actually talk to him about whatever the problem is before he will join you again. If none of that works, I don't know what's going on.
