I managed to get all the way to the end. I had all kinds of very powerful guns, modded to the maximum the game would allow. Even so, I must have tried to save Kent 25 times in succession using every tactic I could think of. VATS or not, no matter which gun I used, Sinjin never got killed by the first shot (even after intimidating his men) and VATS actually paused to allow him to move with me frozen to kill Kent. Very sad and very dissapointing.

Maybe this is one of those "I'm not a twitch gamer" things, but it was just impossible for me. I even turned the game down to very easy and there was no effect on the outcome. I'd almost rather load an old save but at least this way I can chuck the stupid costume out of my inventory.

I'm really ashamed of Bethesda. I even tried stealth boys but the game didn't seem to notice I was invisible, the same events just rolled.

How I did it:

I was able to do it by having the second level of the Sniper perk ("Non-automatic, scoped rifles have a chance of knocking down your target." Chance is 15%).

I had my sniper rifle at the ready, entered the area, got as close and to the left as possible, spoke only as the Silver Shroud, then as soon as I was able I went into VATS and took a head shot.

At the moment I can tell Sinjin is going down, I hit the "tab" key to get out of VATS and ran up to the platform and positioned myself between Kent and Sinjin. I then quickly switched to my most devastating weapon (combat shotgun) and unloaded round after round in Sinjin's face while he was on his butt. Even so, he was able to get up but I stayed between him and Kent and finished him off with a few more rounds.

A pity, as I did all other Silver Shroud quests with only the silver machine gun, but that wasn't ever going to take Sinjin down fast enough.

Use mentats to boost your charisma and convince him to kill you first.

People saying they are ashamed of Bethesda , because they are incapable of doing something millions of other players are not, is getting really old.


Go into VATS, target his head with something like a combat rifle or molded pistil so you get multiple shots, then fire away. Use your crit when you can and down he goes. If you must use all vats hits aside from one on a body part you can hit easier, build your criteria hat way, then use the last vats hit for his head and use the crit.

So I don't sound like a complete randy ass. I did take several tries to do the job myself, and yelled at my screen a couple of times. Once I accidently killed Kent myself...



When I finished and left I was greeted by suiciders from three different directions.

I talked his goons down and then hit some psycojet and blased his head off with a combat rifle. It still took me two or three trys.

yup, I believe that is the games intended method...after you convince him, you have plenty of time to clean house...I'm not sure, but I don't think people even shoot at Kent (maybe I just didn't notice)..
