Blanktransparent main characters face

Post » Sat Jan 16, 2016 1:09 pm

Hello. From the beginning of the game my characters face is blank/transparent (see screenshots). Nothing fixes that: nor graphics setting changes, nor different video drivers, and bug persist across all game versions from launch till this day.

Is there any way I can fix this? Does characters face configuration is stored in save files? If so, does save file sharing will help developers debug this issue?

System specifications (everything runs at stock and temps are fine):

CPU: i5-4570

RAM: 8GB @ 1600MHz

GPU: GTX 750Ti (ASUS Strix)

Video drivers: 358.91 and couple previous versions

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. Game is run from unprivileged user (non admin).

Game versions: initial release through current one (beta)

Mods: At the beginning – none; later - mostly mods that change UI.

Forum does not allow me to post links, so You'll need to assemble this deliberately broken link Yourself.

1st screenshot - that's how protagonist looks most of the time.

2nd screenshot - that's how protagonist looks in face resculpting mode. I assume that I can change something blindly, but issue still persist.

3rd-5th screenshot - graphics settings.

Just ran integrity check. 2 files were redownloaded, but this issue is still there.

Hopefully you're installing everything with the proper privilege.

Use spoiler tags. The button to the left of the Font dropdown. Select Spoiler.

Have you tried running it as admin?

Also might try deleting the ini files here: C:\............\Documents\My Games\Fallout4

I ran Steam as administrator, re-verified game cache (nothing was downloaded this time) and launched the game as administrator. Issue is still there. No need to rename/move ini files this time, because new user will have its own stock configuration files.

I've added older save file where You can observe this oddity (link in 1st post). Protagonist already sits in a chair so You only need to zoom out.

To be clear: I could sculpt my characters face at the begining of the game without problem. Characters mouth and other features showed correctly at first. Only after exiting Vault 111 it glitched and stayed like this ever since no matter what. If I remember correctly, I didn't change my characters face features at the elevator, only went into sculpting menu and exited it.

In new game everything is fine. Either there was some glitch in 1st game version or problem is with particular face/mouth configuration.

Undo all mods even the UI and test.

Like I said before - issue started without any mods. Therefore mods are not the problem. An I do not use any texture or graphics related mods right now.

At this point I don't belive that this issue can be resolved in any other way than modifying save file directly and fixing broken face config parts. Maybe there is some neat trick, like modeling face features through console commands or something like that. I'm willing to experiment.
