Hi all,

I've been having issues since yesterday. The game was fine the day before it. I don't understand what changed. I was playing on relatively higher settings and it worked. When I had problems today, I tried setting the graphics with GeForce Experience, didn't work. After that I set it to the low settings via auto-detect, and it still doesn't work. I'm just getting so frustrated I got a new video card for Christmas so I could play this game! I also tried running in windowed mode. I also use GameFire when playing games. I tried launching it without GameFire, still CTD. I can barely move my character 20 feet and the game crashes. I don't know what to do!

• Did you install the latest Beta patch for Fallout 4 on PC? Yes


• Upon encountering an issue: where in the game you were, how long were you playing, what were you doing at the time? (If related to a specific quest, include the name of the quest as it appears in your journal.) This game worked fine up until last night after the first reboot since playing. Only 7 hours in and it's already screwed up. I was just getting to the first stop on the Freedom trail/also looking for Detective Valentine, as far as the area I was in. I can't even move a few yards before the game shuts down.


• Can you reproduce it? Please list steps to reproduce. I don't know if it can be reproduced on another system. Like I said, didn't have issues until the first reboot, where last time I had played so long without crashes. However, I stopped playing the first session because I was having graphical errors (Screen turned kind of white with black smoke and the pipboy wouldn't even show up; I just assumed maybe stuff was getting overheated and malfunctioning).


• Did the crash/performance issue occur again after rebooting the game? Did you try another save file? Has happened each time, on different saves, and new games altogether.


• How large is your save file? Quick save=6500KB, other saves between 2985-3914KB.


• What is your character level? Level 5-6? Literally only 2 days of playing.


• Which mods if any are you running? NONE.

This happens in a previous save or new game? It worked fine the day before? With the new card installed?

Have you any save that you don't get CTDs often?

Leave only that save in your saves folder, and start the game.

It happens with old saves and new games alike. I installed the video card and updated all drivers and everything before I even purchased the game. I even played some skyrim to take it for a test run the day before I bought the game, to make sure the video card was okay.

I think tonight I might just delete all saves and start over. If that doesn't work I guess I'll have to try a reinstall.

The only thing I can think of is I cannot remember if I had the latest update on my first play through, and maybe after my first session, it updated to the newest version (beta).

Cool, do that. However you could also try every save alone in Fallout4 save folder. Fallout 4 loads all saves into the memory if you start the game.

So, even a non correct working save, can CTD your game.

Steam should have updated your game to patch 1.2 since. (that's a non beta btw)

If you start the game, and choose settings you should see v. 1.2.37.0.0

That's the latest version.

Yes that's true. The do more harm as good.

So just an update on this; I'm still having CTD issues.

My fiance had it working for a little while after messing around when I was at work, but only if it was optimized and launched from GeForce Experience. After shutting the computer down for the night, something happened and the next day it wasn't working again.

I deleted the INI files and the game re-detected my video settings. Launched, and CTD.

Re-optimized and tried running it from GeForce again; CTD.

ROLLED BACK MY VIDEO DRIVERS AND LAUNCHED GAME BOTH OF THESE WAYS; CTD!!!

I'm so frustrated right now.

Reinstalling, even though I know that won't fix anything. I'm tired of this crap.

Also I am running version 1.2.37 of Fallout 4.

If anyone has anything else I can try, I'll just be sitting here slamming my face into the desk.

**Also for anyone who didn't read the original post, the CTD doesn't happen right off; it happens after a few minutes of playing.

Have you checked the event viewer?http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/open-event-viewer#1TC=windows-7

Check app and sys logs under windows logs folder. You can clear both logs first. Right click each log and select clear log.

Then recreate the issue and see if anything comes up.

If the PSU providing enough power to your graphic card? Check your graphic card temperature, fan speed while you run the game.
