Do you have non-english characters in your Windows user name? Some games are unable to create the required folders and files if that's the case.

Happened to me often enough that i had to make a new user account just to play games :lmao:

Run as admin (steam and the both game exes)? You could try making another user account.

Why would you put a @ in your windows user name?

Yes, DON'T use special characters for Windows User Account names.

Next, move the game's installation directory to a folder of your own creation located on the root of your drive. Do not install games to Program Files or Program Files(x86). These are protected directories under Windows and have been causing issues with games for years.

Lastly, be sure you are running under an Administrator Account with ELEVATED access. Windows loves to remove basic functionality from its users in a Big Brother attempt to offer "safety and security". It's just intrusive and counter-productive. If you intend to play games without issues, http://www.tweakandtrick.com/2014/07/enable-administrator-windows.html.

Worst-case scenario is re-installing once you've followed the above steps. Shouldn't be necessary, though. Just make the changes and restart your computer. That should do it.

 With Windows 7 at least running a normal user account hasn't caused problems.

But yes, @ in user name is just asking for trouble.
