Character Preset differences

Post » Sat Jan 16, 2016 4:15 pm

Anyone notice that the presets aren't just different facial/body settings but actual different bodies all together?

For example: Male face #6 is much more muscular than male face #1 even with both body sliders at max.

Would be nice to compile a list of what bodies have which features.

That's a subtle way of asking which female preset has the biggest boobies.

Actually its not. Though I am sure now that there is a preset with a larger bust than the rest.

I am trying to test this to make sure I am not crazy.

Seems like head #6 is the only roider.

Yes I made him white to make sure color wasn't tricking my eyes.

I kinda miss the 'randomize me' option from previous games. While most of the random faces produced were pretty awful, if you kept clicking, you could come up with some pretty amazing and unique looks. Sad that this capability isn't in FO4, as with the better looking faces, it could be even more awesome. Plus, I get tired quickly of all the dikeing around with sliders and choices and yadda yadda after having spent hours on making a couple of them myself.

First picture doesn't look bulkier to you?

Okay, I thought I was the only one who thought they all looked exactly the same. ;)

Looking on my phone I put my fingers over the heads and they all look like the exact same screenshot to me.

They all look the same to me. I think guys with smaller hair look like they have smaller heads which makes the arm muscles seem bigger by comparison.

Guess that's a pro tip - if you want to impress the ladies with your powerful biceps, get a number three.

Hmm... Now that I look again, there does appear to be more room between his sleeve and bicep in the other pictures.

Edit: BUT... I also notice his arm in that first pic is just a smidge forward of the other pics. (You'll notice you can see just a sliver more of the toilet behind him in the top pic.)

So I think it's likely just looking like his sleeve is tighter as its just at a slightly different angle.

Yes I think this is the reason - the guy at top is facing us more frontally, the others are to the side more, so their arms look slimmer (slightly, but so little nobody would ever care anyway).

I tried taking some pics of them in different positions near stuff for comparison but I am [censored] at screen shots.

I measure two pics in paint with the ruler and face #6 appears to be 10cm wider bicep to bicep. My ocd is killing me.

EDIT: Someone make characters with preset #6 and maxed muscle to compare to preset #1 maxed muscle and tell me if I am crazy in what I am seeing or not seeing.

It's tough to tell 100% in those shots. Plus the difference in hair styles makes the shaved head appear smaller, which could give the illusion of a smaller body. And there's the neck slider to take into account too (again possibly giving the illusion of a larger frame.)

Just the way the system is set up, I don't logically see why there would be a difference. A body mesh is a body mesh - I don't see why they'd give one specific preset a unique model.

Just from a development standpoint and application of Occam's Razor I'd doubt there'd by any difference there. And if there were for some odd reason for one to have a higher extreme the difference would obviously be so minor as to be indiscernable.

I agree there is no reason for a difference and thats what intrigues me. I mean I think the idea of different body types is cool, just strange that all the other presets look exactly alike to me except #6. These last shots are probably the best I can do until someone can just look at the bodies in geck or something. Just sort of reminds me of mass effect 3 where Vega made Shepard look puny with a huge a head.

I still think that the first guy has a larger build. Either way its kind of pointless unless someone wants to make the most jacked looking guy they can.
