Gifting.....Settlements?

Post » Sun Jan 17, 2016 2:43 am

OK, so it's probably way beyond anything that will actually happen, but I had an idea last night....

What if we could build settlements and....trade or gift them to other players!!??

There are so many people it seems that like to build settlements and are good at it, doesn't it seem like we should be able to trade these built settlements to other people and then they would appear in their game as their settlement?

Maybe I'm being a bit of a hokerr here, but it just seemed like a fun idea to me.

(Yes, I like to build settlements.)

It's called "Modding", and at one time, there were several websites devoted to Real Estate for a selection of the TES games. ( don't recall seeing one for FO yet....) Housing mods are ever popular, generally a budding modders first project, etc..... so, it will be a matter of extracting that information from a save game, and importing it into someone elses game as an ESP file. I wouldn't be surprised if such a tool didn't already exist.... (and FO4Edit may already be capable.....) or if one doesn't, one soon will. :) And since mods are going to be avialable on consoles..... :D yeah, I can see that becoming a 'thing'.

Yeah, I just think it would be cool if it was an in-game option somehow. I love using mods, and yeah, I'm sure it will be a "thing" in that way, to a certain extent, but it would just be fun to start playing one day and get a notification when I turn on the game "OpsCo has gifted you a settlement! Jamaica Plain - preview | accept | decline". or something like that, just to make it easy for people.

I guess you would need like a little interface for managing your settlements then, as well as sending them to other players.

Hmmmm.....

I would think it would only give you the items/buildings/decorations etc... you would probably need to re-assign whoever you have living there to work whatever crops/shops etc... is in the settlement. Shouldn't mess with NPCs or individual settlers at all.

Perhaps you can convince Bethesda to license Fallout to EA to that they can release The Sims - Fallout Edition.

Watch these and you will understand why Bethesda would never do that.
