Human error?

I already did this quest before I started over, so I know what happens if I let Amelia live, but........................ Spoiler based question below

Spoiler
Is Amelia evil? Does being a synth in and of itself mean it is evil?

What ever your answer, please don't tell me what happens too far down the road.

Personification of technology is fairly common. Like when your computer crashes you might say "Oh, my computer hates me!" Rest assured that your computer doesn't hate you, as it has no feelings period.

To answer your question no being a synth in and of itself doesn't mean it's evil.. no more than a https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRTifN0Ocrw...

Shhh... my computer will hear you...

Also, a toaster nowadays might be programmed to be evil, and I shudder to think how many people have been electrocuted by toasters since they were invented. My toaster has started turning on its radio by itself, and plays me 50's rock and roll love songs...

This should be in the spoilers section, as it may be rather difficult to discuss with mentioning some spoilers. I however, won't tell you anything that happens down the road:

It's a controversial subject, with many ways to look at it. You're not going to find a definitive answer.

Spoiler
It's really up to you to decide that for yourself, in what you see synths as. There are people (characters in-game at least) who simply don't trust synths and can't separate them from being some sort of spy for the Institute, others simply disregard them because they see them as nothing more but machines. However, some people actually sympathize with the synth's plea for help in seeking their own freedom, thus leading people to believe they deserve to have their own rights. I'm personally aligned with the latter. Early in the game I wasn't too sure where I stood with synths, but as time progressed and I got involved with certain factions and characters and hearing their experiences, I've come to sympathize with them a bit. However, that could change when I see things from another perspective with another faction.

However, in regards to Covenant and their methods:

Spoiler
I understand well enough what they were attempting to do, but I find its far too risky and full of too much paranoia rather than conclusive data in how they determine who is and isn't a synth. Yes, they were correct about Amelia, but that wasn't their first victim and they certainly didn't deny they've been wrong before about previously victims they've tortured and murdered. If you're a synth sympathizer, the answer is fairly obvious that they must be stopped. But even if you don't care for synths, the risk of a human's life is there as well. Overall, not worth keeping around in my opinion regardless of how you feel about synths.
