ballistic weave question

How do you get it to work? If you buy one garment from Tom does it unlock for all clothing type to upgrade or is it for just that one item? Like is there any way to get the weave and then add it to a totally different type of garment?

You can add it to clothing in the armor crafting station just like any armor mod. Only certain articles of clothing can get it though. The Wiki page has a full list of the clothing that can accept it. There are only a few under-armor garments that allow it, which is incredibly dumb.

You don't even have to buy any of them from Tinker Tom. Once the option to buy them is available, it means you've unlocked it in your workshop. You have to have the ballistic fiber to craft the mods though.

I have ballistic fiber in my inventory, but I can't purchase anything from Tom that has "ballistic" in it's name. He has a bunch of "Armored" stuff (not stated as specifically ballistic) for sale, though. I think I may have one more quest (of a specific group of 3) to complete to obtain it (not mentioning it due to the potential of it being a spoiler).

I suppose I should just try crafting some armor and see if a ballistic feature is available.

You can buy bulk quantities of Ballistic Weave material from the Vendor in Vault 81.

Yes, armored is the designation used to signify the ballistic weave mod. If Tom has it in stock, then it means you've unlocked it.

No matter how many missions I did for that lot Tom never gave me the ballistic weave dialogue that he's supposed to to unlock this, so I used a console command to unlock it as it's obviously a bug for some people.

Excellent, Thanks.

That was the confusing part for me. He mentioned something about discovering ballistic weave technology as a result of something I'd brought back from one of RR missions (whicih I assume is the dialogue you didn't get), and told me to come back later for some goodies that use it. Since i'd never bartered with him previously, though, I didn't realize that the "Armored" stuff was new, so I kept checking every time I returned and didn't see anything out of the ordinary (for him). He never announced that it was available; I guess you're just supposed to recognize it in his inventory when it shows up. Would've helped if they'd referred to it as "Ballistic Armored ."

I don't think I ever got any official dialog or notification about having unlocked ballistic weave mods. I just knew that I was supposed to be getting it, and checked after he mentioned having some ballistic weaved clothing for sale.

Except it's not linked to missions for Tom. You have to do missions for PAM to unlock it.

When I said 'that lot' I meant all the Railroad missions, PAM, Tom the woman and the doctor. All the 'dead drops', everything. I did far more missions than I saw in the YouTube walkthroughs and just kept getting his 'trade' dialogue.
