Ive got a couple of questions

Post » Sun Jan 17, 2016 5:23 am

I have a few questions so I will list them here. if you can help on one or all great!

1. I am about lvl 30. To my knowledge I have had no attacks on any settlements. Sanctuary and the Castle are my biggest currently the rest of them I have done nothing or just enough to install an arty and establish a supply line to link everyone together. How do you know when you are getting or have been attacked am I missing something or just being left alone?

2. Dont spoil it just answer this question, Not including buffs like 50% more damage to humans. or the rifleman perks etc..I have a .50 cal sniper rifle with 80 damage. Is that about the most I am going to see. Does weapon strength go much higher. This might be a bit of a spoiler but Is there an automatic weapon worth having?

3. What are your suggestions for armor. Right now I am wearing the upgraded Silver Shroud armor since its relatively light with 70/70 for damage and energy resistances.

4. Is the capacity you gain with pocketed armor worth the trade off of having heavier armor? What is your max carry weight?

5. Had to add this one, what is your low carry weight once you have stopped and dropped off all your junk and are about to head out! I am usually between 140 and 190 depending on what weapons I have picked up.

Thanks!

1.There will be a notice on your screen and a quest marker will pop up at the settlement being attacked.

2. Much higher damage weapons are available, just have to find or mod them. I have a .50 sniper that does 128 base damage and there are more powerful weapons out there.

3. I just stick to modded heavy combat armor, power armor only if I need to

4. I'm a hoarder so I like to carry alot. I have the deep pocket mod on all my stuff, carry weight 380.

Population size, resources and the defense to resource ratio seem to be what triggers the attacks. You should see more attacks the more you add to the settlements.

The attack notifications themselves are easy to miss, and are one of the biggest frustrations everybody has with the game. If you have an active attack underway, it appears as a quest under miscellaneous and has a map marker on your pip boy, so check that often.

When your settlement's get attacked you get a very small very easily missable pop up saying, for example "finch farm is under attack!" or something like that. It's listed under miscellaneous in the quest section of your pipboy, so it might be a good idea to periodically check your pipboy because like I said you can miss them real easy.

I would suggest Ballistic weave for armor, I laughed at 70/70 armor, it should be 110/110 minimum.

1. I'm at Level 60, and believe me, your settlements can and will get attacked. I had gone a very long period without attacks just like you are experiencing, but that seems like distant memory now. You will keep getting attacks, and enemies get tougher too as you level up.

2. Without spoiling anything, there is another perk that gives ALL weapons 25% more damage. That would give your .50 sniper rifle about 100 damage. I have the same rifle and it has 102 damage. Actually, all you need to do is look at the perk chart and see what it is.

3. Get the kind of armor best suited to deal with the kind of enemies you often see, and upgrade accordingly. You will see and get better armor through looting, so don't "over-mod" your existing armor. Modding your low-tier armor to the max doesn't do you good when even a mediocre higher-tier armor offers you the same or better protection.

4. The perk I mentioned in No. 2 also gives you +100 carrying weight, and that's what I recommend. I don't recommend modding an armor to get the "pocketed" benefit (which gives you only +5 carry weight) because you can use that mod slot for better things, such as radiation protection.
