Do developers consider making hardcoe Mode?

Post » Sat Jan 16, 2016 6:09 pm

I got so excited for Fallout 4 and I loved the game. But I am still a bit disappointed for not playing the game on hardcoe Mode. Come on. We have plenty of food, water and beds but we don't even need to use them. At least developers should I have make something like this optional. Instead they made Survival Mode and to be honest it's not very difficult. Sure I have died many times but after some point now I have become a death incarnate.

I want a harder, more challenging game. If Bethesda would give this feature either with DLCs or updates I would be really happy. I didn't want to keep complaining about it so I decided to post this here.

I think they thought "Survival" was the hardcoe mode. I mean, honestly, this is a Beth game. Even the worst they throw at you isn't that bad. Take Legendary on Skyrim. Tough, but you can survive and eventually thrive. It certainly ain't "Insanity" on Dragon Age. Now that one still gives me nightmares.

I don't play it anymore, but, I can see you're point.

Me, I'm just lazy now and like to reek havoc across the Commonwealth while my enemies cower before me. Thus Hard is good enough for me. :)

No idea about the Beth itself, but at least some mods are in development.

Stop it! You're scaring me! Almost as much as that Legendary Albino Radscorpion jumping out of that bush last night!

So, what exactly was difficult about the realistic needs in hardcoe Mode? Food, water, and beds are so abundant in New Vegas (and Fallout 4) that, while I can understand the appeal of realism, added no real challenge.

The big part about what made hardcoe mode challenging was that healing items were no longer instantaneous, but that's default in Fallout 4 (and way slower with Survival Mode). I don't miss ammo weight all that much, and requiring Doctor's Bags for crippled limbs I'm ambivalent about - it seems like in this game, crippled limbs are easier to fix but waaay more penalizing unfixed. And Stimpak economy is weird - on most of my characters I shift between 10 and 20 Stims regularly, but on one character I've got around 90 and I don't know how it happened.

I'm even lazier. I like everything to drop down in a pile of ashes and rain loot upon me.

A game is never "hardcoe" if the player can access the inventory in the middle of a fight or something...

I am sure, there will be mods that will make food and water less abundant too ;)

"hardcoe" is not having an inventory at all, it's dragging each item you want to keep one by one as you step across the wasteland.

Just out of curiosity, but how is including a requirement to eat, drink and sleep make anything harder? I mean really, it is just busywork.

That's what I am talking about. In worst case I will download and install these mods. (I had no permission to post links so I had to delete them)

Here's a thought. Overburden yourself and stay that way for the entire game. Now that would be a handicap.

I do miss the ammo weight. I shouldn't be able to carry stuff like 1000 50 caliber rounds, and 2000 5mm rounds and 20 rockets. I only got crippled like less than 10 times and it's not that threating.

I'm at level 100+ and most of the time I am running around in a suit and hat that provides zero protection.

Try it yourself.

The thing is you don't have to arm yourself to the teeth and dress like a tank if you don't want to.

Also if you wear light clothing you can run really fast.

So I have a suit of power armour at each settlement and go and get one when required.

Weird. Why do some people like instant kill and dying so much? Borderlands have this "hardcoe" type of playthrough and in the end, you only have two choices: become enemy's [censored] or follow someone else's skill tree and equipment.
