Clipping technique issue...

Post » Sat Jan 16, 2016 6:08 pm

Straight to the point.........In order to get certain items where I want them while in workshop mode, I use the old trick of laying down a small rug and then plopping an item on top of it which allows me to move that object where needed without having the object turn "red" because its proximity is being based off of the rug.

But heres the problem......every time I store the rug after im done placing something, the object that was sitting on it will sink below the floor/ground. It mainly happens with objects inside being placed on floors.

Even if I do the "select all" method without having the object actually on the mat, it will still sink into the floor when storing the mat.

So far my only solution has been to leave the rug......so I have a hundred rugs all over underneath things.....which looks tacky

Any ideas?

Any better clipping methods?

I get this too. I try to plan ahead, either by using the trick only with objects that look o.k. when sunk into the ground/floor, like beds, tables, and junk fence sections,

OR

Try to use/place the rug in such a way that it looks o.k. when left in place.
