Luck based build on survival

Post » Sat Jan 16, 2016 7:18 pm

i am wondering if this is a good idea or not, i think it could be fun but difficult but what other skills would people get, what luck based perks would be helpful? i enjoy luck based builds a lot, mostly because of never knowing when one of the skills such as idiot servant, ricochet or mysterious stranger will activate adds an extra level of excitement to the game

also random question but is there any way for me to change my username? i must have been about six when i created it

thank you for any helpful replies

i also find that fortune finder is helpful for getting good gear and scrounger is good so i dont run out of ammo

luck based builds are the most easy builds.... see for example gunslinger build from fudgemuppet

you should like using vats then but with these things you will become a beast

pistol / gunslinger

better criticals

critical banker

four leav glover

action boy

grim reaper's sprint (not needed if you use a pistol with the "relentless" effect and you will find a very strong one very early in game)

at some point maybe also gun fu if you get around to it

Choose the rest as you like and need....defensive perks such as toughness, live giver, medic and the "utility perks" such as science, gun nut, armor smith, local leader, locksmith, hacker, scrounger

I'd try to get to str 3, per 4, end 3, char 6, int 6, ag 10, luck 9-10 (with potential bubbleheads which might or might not be in the game)

look for armor which increases ap / ap refresh speed, defense ratings / slow down time or +agility (= more shots in vats);

perception is also nice to hit more - but since your gonna use medium range and crits never miss its not THAT important

game becomes easy sauce on survival...

the great thing with luck is that it lets you also find better items...

imo the luck skill tree is the best out of all of them. Crit banker + grim reaper + four leaf clover = chuck Norris.

thank you i thought so, i been having a lot of fun with the skills which make critical hits extremely powerful and banking them and because i got 10 luck minimum at all times i can kill most things pretty fast, that said i have only played normal for about 6 hours and the rest i been playing very easy, i am going to go to survival difficulty but right now i just want to explore and get through the story, i had the game for about a week so i didnt get it the moment it came out sadly, i must admit i pretty much ignored luck with early characters but in fallout 3 i think i used luck a lot, i remember using mysterious stranger all the time

i know with a high intelligence you get a xp boost along with the ability for perks to mod guns and armour but i dont know if that is better than the extra caps and legendary items you can find easier in luck, i need to try grim reaper and four leaf clover too but for some reason i ignored those perks so far

I did a melee sneak/luck build a while back, could one-shot Mirelurk Queens and Legendary Deathclaws with my dagger so rarely were the Luck perks useful, but when I got spotted and had to fight my way out, the enormous amount of criticals you can get from the Luck tree are amazing.

So, my conclusion is that for non-sneak, VATS-based build Luck is worth it. For anything else I've tried I would just go 3 Luck for the damage perk (bloody mess?).

what difficulty were you on? that sounds very OP, its scary how good idiot servant can be, i got up to just before Museum of Freedom, i saw a few locations but for the most part i just followed the quests and i was up to level 5 purely because it decided to work for quests, i am just having a lot of fun with the luck build and i didnt expect that

also question somewhat related but when i first got to choose my stats i chose 10 intelligence and when i left the vault i changed it from 10 intelligence to 10 luck, is that a way to get a few extra xp points? it cant be much but it all helps

sorry for the double post but can someone post everything luck effects? i am wondering if it effects legendary enemy spawns or quality of drops(enemy weapons for example) does it affect what shops sell? i think it just affects prices for them, sorry for all the questions

it affects critical chance, critical meter fill rate, persuasion chance, intimidation chance, % hit in VATS, and # of perentisies () in hacking teminals

Nobody is maticulas enough to test 10 luck vs. 1 luck on legendary drops sorry we just don't know.

it seems to affect intimidation and persuasion to me I don't have any hard stats, I just have a high luck character who seems to pass checks and intimidate more often than my low luck character.
