Does thrown weapon distance ever vary?

Post » Sun Jan 17, 2016 6:17 am

Can the distance you can throw a grenade or other thrown weapon be increased, via perk(s), stats, etc such as in some previous Fallout games, or is it a set, static distance throughout the game? Seems a bit short right now with low Strength and just one point into the explosives perk.

If you get the perk that shows an arc on grenades you'll find you can throw them anywhere so long as they can get through the gap (say for a window).

wiki says they have a maximum range of 93. I'm not sure 93 what, but 93

Given that a sniper rifle is doing pretty good with a range of 215, 93 is pretty good. Then again, I can hit targets at Corvega from clear across Lexington, actual range can be quite a bit greater. I am guessing that the number listed is the longest VATS range available. If that is the case, then pretty much **any** weapon can exceed VATS range by quite a bit. You just have to rely on manual sighting. (And don't expect too many successful "thread the needle" shots.)

I'm actually quite shocked (and usually burned) but how far the enemy can throw a flaming cocktail. Seriously I can barely see the guy and the next thing I know I'm burning up. Personally I think the ranges they have now are way too far. They need to be cut in half and then allow a Perk or something to increase them if the person wants.

Let us fill the junkjet with grenades or molotov that would make it useful. Upgrade to also be able to shoot mines. Shoot mine at enemy and it explodes then close shoot at door or wall and it will activate then it land on ground.

do you not know how to dodge or something? The longer the distance the more time it is in the air and does not change direction.

When throwing grenades at maximum range they will actually detonate before they even reach their destination, like in mid-air.

I'm generally viewing through a scope when I get hit, cause I'm actually that far away. Not many indicators when you are scoping. Not that I'm good a dodging either.

than I suppose that is a down side to using scopes, I normally Melee to not waste ammunition on bullet sponge enemies.

The explosives perk that adds the visible arc to grenade throws is one of the most fundamental gameplay-improving perks there is, IMO.

I was a little mad I waited so long when I finally took it.

It's pretty darn nifty to be able to throw grenades through tiny openings etc. Completely changed my play style from grenades being a desperate measure, or not using them at all, to being a strategic opener to most fights and sometimes the entire fight. Two well placed grenades takes care of most enemies.

I've noticed that if I VATS a grenade and shoot it, I don't get hurt nearly as much than if I just let it explode nearby.
