I admit I was wondering the same thing.

On my first play through I thought I would set some mines on the bridge to Sanctuary as part of my defences.

Her corpse on the bridge was a constant reminder to me for the whole 250+ hours of that play through that neutral NPC's are not immune to the player characters mines ??
