BOS vertibird mod idea BOS random missions

Post » Sun Jan 17, 2016 3:28 am

I have a cool idea for a vertibird mod and a new mission of sorts. Let me know what you think.

Basically onboard the prydwen there is a new boardable vertibird with a full crew and upon getting in, it will fly around and patrol the skies randomly and behave like other vertibird I.e circling etc. you can command it to take you where you want to go normally (great if taking damage) but instead of landing it will resume to fly around ((making sky patrols cool as hell and even has all the AI)) but you can still press X to drop you off. Best thing about it is that it is possible for it to be shot down. You may die but power armour greatly increases your survival chance. Any surviving crews will deal with enemies in the area then travel around in a group searching for AI unlike vanilla where they patrol same areas then stop. New item is a sensory flight helmet that gives night vision which is toggleable and reveals any enemies on the group in a blip ((because sometimes they aren't visible due to bad loading, I only see the beams etc))

Missions BOS part 2 of the idea is essentially being able to do all the same missions as in vanilla research patrols, clearing out areas etc except you aren't the leader. You follow the AI who have a pre set destination and path sometimes outside and sometimes inside. You can clear entire dungeons etc in a squad of BOS. You can even stimpax then if they low health. It's nice to follow instead of following for a change. I imagine survival mode this be amazing.

Oh and upon reaching rank of Sentinal you have the ability to fly them.

The only mod I want for vertibirds is so that they aren't paper airplanes that anyone can shoot down with a spitball.

Other than that, you idea isn't too bad!

I do agree with you. However it's not just the vertibird aircraft that needs tweeted because I seen a super mutant shoot the pilot dead with his rifle which caused it to crash. The cabin doesn't protect him all that much

Vertibirds should have better armor or at least the pilot. Seen 3 vertibirds falls down to the ground because of 2 mutants with less powerfull weapons manage to hit the right spot. I was doing a quest and just watch the whole sceene from distance. I went to the mutants and took them out, "they may have good loot", but no :-)

Cheers,

I know! Honestly. I saw a Sup shoot down a verti (probably the pilot) with a pipe-rifle (at least that's what I looted from it's body). That's a pretty good shot for a green dude with a pea shooter.

They need better pilots. Maybe someone who knows how to fly the thing instead of crashing without being shot.

You can patrol the skies already. Just change the destination on your Pip-boy map and the vertibird will change course. Even easier to do if you are using the Pip-boy app on your phone or tablet.

Of course this relies on you having a few selectable destinations that you can switch between to get your vertibird to circle/patrol where you want ;)

I really don't like Vertibirds are only transports, I'd really love if Bethesda would put in the same kind of stuff you could do with dragons in Dragonborn. Like have the pilot center around a group of enemies so you can mow them down and the pilot will also shoot.

Including some kind of radiant quest like this seems like something that should have been obvious to me. You can call a Vertibird to transport you from one location to another and you can change your destination while in the air, but I've done this quite a few times and rarely find much in the way of enemies to attack. I've taken Vertibird flights even after the game and gone past a 'defend the checkpoint' location, which you often get while out exploring to help the BoS. They just fly right past it. It would be cool if they actually circled around the location in the event of that happening. I really wish they had made the Vertibird a more central part of the game instead of just using it for a couple scripted parts of the game and using it as a glorified taxi.

I got tired of Vertibirds constantly being brought down by like 2 super mutants or a couple of raiders, so I installed the Durable Vertibirds mod on Nexus.

Maybe the kamikaze vertibird pilots are just another way Beth is embracing the WWII-era culture :P

When on PC you should look from time to time on the Nexus. Use the durability + damage mod linked above in No. 9 as I do and face a much better airpower. With gives me headache as I plan to fight against BoS.

I know you can change course but my mod idea is a full on aerial patrol. Like where it hovers and the pilots manoeuvres to give you a clean shot. And like you get caps for completing your "objective" like it could be like the assault on the institute where you fly around an area then land to a specific location, clear it out and a verified will return once done and extract u to prywdwen of ur team survives

Oh and the ability to be shot down mid flight would be cool aswell. I got killed by a behemoth. Was an amazing shot by him not gonna lie. Fell out of the transport and died but be good if whole craft went down too with a chance to survive in power armour

Seems to me, that since you don't take falling damage in PA, if it looks like you are going to go down, just jump out...... Can you???

Can't jump unfortunately would be cool though. If someone made the mod I'm talking about maybe you could. Your essentially mimicking the ai behaviour as a repeatable quest. Iangine being shot down in commons and your like Shiiiit! Only you and 1 of the 4 crew survive. So the AI starts walking around commons inside buildings clear in them waiting for a new vertibird for extraction. Would be hard to script I imagine but hell modders have done more complex things in the past
