new vaults are too small and pretty uninteresting

Did people even play the previous games?

they're not small, they're about the same size as the vaults in fallout 3 and NV, they might not have the kinda scary vibe to em, like the gary vault or the vault with the hallucinations or a couple of the vaults in NV were pretty well done also, the FO4 vaults are very combat oriented, they don't have any special stories to go with em for the most part but they're ok.

I seem to remember that one of the vaults I was in was built into a school...

The parents that made it in with their children were disposed of and the children were put into military training exercises.

They would then cultivate their respective reproductive material, dispose of the graduates, and/or promote a few for replacement needs.

Over time the numbers of graduates promoted outnumbered or numbered high enough to take over the vault depose the overseer and then they became what we know as "The Gunners" in the game.

But I can certainly see how that sort of thing is totally uninteresting..... /sarcasm

Yea the Vaults are kinda disappointing in the game, especially considering that Fallout 4 has Bethesda's finest world in my opinion.

At least, we got to see what a working Vault is like in a modern Fallout game.

I'd like to visit vault 68, it's like I'm in Germany attending a sausage fest.

i actually like the vault alot more that preview game, they feel alot more real now that previews game. I mean yeah they maybe a little smaller but the layout make sense, no like some of the Vault on 3 and NV that where a maze.

That is something i like about Fo4 that most of the building and Vault the layout make me feel they are more real.

Yep, Vaults in this game left me with a "...Oh....that's it?" kind of feeling. Just like the wasted poseidon energy plant. :/

Hopefully with DLC we could visit more vaults in, maybe, New York City or something.

I'm new to Fallout series. If you can tell the story, I'll sit down and read.

I hope your story is legit, of course.

The gunners are ruined by being everywhere, and they are not tough enough to warrant any real fear.

By the time you reach that vault you've probably killed off a hundred of them at least, and they do not feel like super soldiers, just dudes with decent equipment. Raider+

If they were worth worrying about maybe they would have been interesting. But as it is they are just generic enemies.

That is a terrible conspiracy theory, and nothing actually suggests that.

The vault underneath the school does suggest that.

The program in that vault hasn't functioned for quite a while. So it's very possible their supposed superior skills got watered down because there's no longer any selective artificial breeding. Also, the gunners don't seem to have being a descendant of that vault as a requirement for recruitment.

On the other hand it's also possible that that program was just as flawed as many other vault programs were, as in: just a bunch of flawed researchers doing flawed research.

God I hope not.

That and the Gunners have taken over at least one other Vault that I have visited, so there is no proof that they are the original residents of that vault, they've just taken it as a forward base of operations in my eyes.
