Game crashes when I try to save in Thicket Excavations

I was able to save in Sanctuary but when I fast traveled to Thicket Excavations and tried to save the game crashed. Now when I fast travel I crash. Yes, I use mods and I'm probably going to start a new game to start clean of removed mods but I'm wondering why this might be happened.

Thicket Excavations is a pretty glitched area. LOD textures fail to unload, mirelurks walk right through walls, lighting gets mucked upon reloading (if you're at the very bottom). Just don't fast travel to it. If you see the the LOD bug, quitting to the main menu and reloading seems to fix it.



On the whole, it seems the game is not really "ready" for mods. The devs even removed the functionality of the .INI bEnableFileSelection=1 setting to keep mods from working in the latest patch. Your crash has a good chance of being mod related, but it has a good chance of being caused by the game being broken as @$%! in many places.
