2 quick questions 4 Bethesda

Post » Mon Jan 18, 2016 6:14 am

My first question ;

Spoiler
why is there no armory or power armor station in the institute? Surely the synths get their weapons somewhere?

My second question ; When using VATS mode, time actually slows, could we maybe see some d.l.c. that has the protaganist delving into the history of the PIPboy, and maybe...just maybe.... go back in time and try to stop the war but possibly being the reason why the bombs dropped?

Just some ideas.

No time travel please. It just doesn't fit to me.

Also, VATS slowing time is just a game mechanic, an alternative to the previous games were it paused the action completely. It's not some temporal manipulation feature, but just a way of allowing us to target body parts at a speed that we can actually think about our selection instead of rushing.

Technically, the Sole Survivors Pipboy isn't unique in that regard, VATS is supposed to be a feature of all Pipboys.

Yeah I suppose your right Im not too clued up on the fallout facts.

But I cant help wondering why, in the 200 or so years since the bombs fell, nobody has thought about personal transport like a brahmin or i dunno, purposely bred yaoi guai?

Same reason people generally don't ride cows now. You can, people do, they're just not well suited to the task.

No time travel please. That would just be too far gone from realism, even within the scope of the fantasy world for my tastes. I'm a physicist, and fringe theories of time travel are tangentially related to my actual field of study...so time travel into the past really breaks immersion for me. Time travel into the future...now that's a different story.

Time travel into the future, yes. As I said in my previous post. Time travel into the past, is most certainly not real. If you somehow know otherwise, I'd love to hear about it.

What about getting cryogenically frozen to the past?

I'm not really sure what you mean. Cryogenic freezing isn't time travel. It's just a suspended state of life. It can be seen as time travel into the future because one goes to sleep one year, and wakes up many years later having perceived it as only a brief moment. That's not going to let you travel into the past though regardless.

It was clearly a joke. Getting frozen for hundreds of years and wake up like if nothing happened sounds as unrealistic to me though.

Technologically speaking we're not quite at that point, but it's not all that unrealistic. Numerous animals have been frozen cryogenically and later reanimated. Sustaining it for centuries is a different matter, but feasibility isn't really the limiting factor of doing so. Technology is the real limiting factor of it at this point.

if there is any kind of "time travel" included i would hope it's fleshed out through the Memory Den. although you wouldn't be able to bring anything back, there could be some interesting stories told, and maybe some new quests involving some of the pre-war ghouls.

I discovered that in the Dangerous Minds quests, you can pick up one of the Institute Rifles that gets dropped by one of the Synths that gets killed and you'll still have it afterward. I don't know if that was intentional or not, but it was rather odd.

You can bring stuff back in a logical way, just imagine you are part of the memory and you store your stuff into a well secured container that only you know where it is, or only you have access to, hundreds of years later, you go to that container and get it. I think it could work like that and in many other ways.

I hope for the sake of humanity that time travel is never achieved.

interesting, considering the nature of that quest i would lean towards that being a bug.

i'm hoping that some of these places, like the memory Den and the Children of the Atom camp, have been deliberately left open to be fleshed out with DLC. it would be better if they were more complete from the start of course, but i have a feeling BGS will be building on them in response to player feedback. i have nothing to base that on really, it's just a hunch.

The Pip-boy could actually have a neural interface that causes the VATS to modify a person's perception of time. So time doesn't slow down, your mental processes have just sped up.
