should there be jet-packs in fallout NV?

Post » Thu Jun 24, 2010 1:25 pm

i know it would be stupid to fly for hours but do people think it would be helpful to get out of sticky situations with a limited jet-pack or save some time flying instead of walking all the time or just get to high spots to snipe?

just curious to see what people think...

WTF WERE YOU THINKING WHEN YOU CREATED THIS THREAD. Sorry for the caps, but just, really? This is Fallout, not 007, not San Andreas, its Fallout, and I'd prefer for it to stay that way :fallout: .

This game engine is not equipped for the physics of said jet pack and jet packs don't even fit into fallout!

Type tcl in the console commands. Then you can fly :hubbahubba:

I'd actually like it... because I missed the total freedom of Morrowind where you could walk on water, levitate, etc. Obviously this isn't Morrowind and it would likely break the game unless severe liitations were placed on it (10 second flight/chance to injure self unless you have enough strength or something time sounds about good to me), but it would fit in with the 50's sci-fi theme, and it would be useful if there were certain places you could only reach via flight.

Ultimately, it doesn't matter because there won't be anything like it in the game anyway, and it doesn't really bother me.

I think the main issue would be, you could only use a jet pack in a limited space, and wouldn't have the absolute freedom to go wherever on the map. For instance, it's been said that we get to New Vegas via a metro tunnel of sorts, meaning the city has it's own cell, or series of cells, meaning you could only fly around those cells.
A jet pack would be all about freedom of movement, but it wouldn't work with the way environments will be handled. Bumping into invisible walls or getting the "Go back" message while traversing through an area would kinda throw me off.

Whilst I think this is highly unlikely to be included, please use the "What do you want in New Vegas" topic. Thanks.
