defaulting to fusion core grenade

Post » Mon Jan 18, 2016 4:39 am

ok beth., when i get into a heated combat situation, and get to tossing grenades on the run, i will sometime miss the grenade count on my screen and toss one when there is none to toss, while carry fusion cores. this is resulting in using a fusion core as a grenade, NO!!!!!! so go edit the code so that when one runs out of grenades and has fusion cores, the game will NOT default to the FC's thanx

Then how will people use fusion cores as a grenade? It is easier to just get a mod that does this so people have the option of whether fusion cores are being dropped or not.

you really do not toss them as just drop it. then run. kind of like a delayed action IED.

i just want the game to stop defaulting to it. make it another key or something. this is PC, of course.

It is a matter of how long you press it for and what weapon you use. Bash is only for ranged weapons while power attacks are for melee weapons. You just need to tap it to get bash or power attack. Grenade and Fusion Core requires holding the button for more than a second. If you are afraid of dropping a Fusion Core, then just equip some grenade. This is the problem with games that are designed for consoles, you need each button to do 20 different things for some games.

Wait, what? This has never happened to me and I've accidentally run out of grenades and tried to throw one on numerous occasions. I didn't even know that this was possible and I've spent around 450 hours playing this game.

You need the perk.

Yup. The Nuclear Physicist 3 perk. If you never pick up that perk, then you will never be able to the most powerful bowel movement ever.

Only if you have Rank 3 of the Nuclear Physicist perk, and even then you have to be in Power Armor.

Let me get this right....If you are in power armour, and you have no grenades/molotovs equipped, or on you, when you hit the 'throw grenade/melee attack' button you drop a fusion core, but only if you have the perk? Which means that when you have no grenades/molotovs, if you have the perk and are in power armour, you will end up using your power armour fuel as grenades automatically and unintentionally?

If so, that would be the second dumbest design decision next to grenades and melee attack being the same button.

Apologies to those staffers who will be upset, but svck it up...fact.

You have to hold the melee/grenade button a couple of seconds for the fusion core to drop. Sure it is stupid, but that is the problem with making games like Fallout for consoles. At least we haven't come to the point where we need to use a combination of key presses like Street Fighter or Soul Calibur.

Ha Ha, yeah I thought it was funny when I accidentally did that after getting the perk without really thinking about how it works.

I ran out of grenades without realising it.

Pressed the grenade bar and...... 'Whoops, I dropped a stinker'.

Run away.........

That's a perk I could do without.
