Cure crippling?

Post » Sun Jan 17, 2016 9:30 pm

My next character I was planning a survivalist. The idea is that he only uses Pipe weapons (and primitive melee weapons), only wears Raider and Metal armor, and no chems of any kind. All his healing will be from items he cooks. The one BIG drawback I see is that I would not be able to cure crippling. Doesn't that 'require' a Stimpak? What are other options?

Can a doctor cure crippling? Does sleeping cure it? Does leveling cure it?

He will be adding a lot of the STR and END Perks that toughen you up and add resistances.

I hate seeing this one thing being a major problem with this role-play and would love to know if anyone already knows of some options.

Thanks.

According to one of those loading screen blurbs, sleeping in a (owned?) bed cures it.

Docs can cure it.

If you wait long enough, crippled limbs heal themselves...

Ok well good. Sounds like this is doable then. Have to start working on my perks/level character sheet then.

Thanks.

You mean healing radiation with food too ? I'm asking because in my game, the food made of mutant hounds supposedly heals 50 rad, but it's more like 5 or something. Is there some other meal to remove radiation ?

That's the only one I'm aware of and I was planning on using it. But I am also planning on using those high level END perks that remove most radiation problems so hopefully it isn't a problem. But just -5 Rads wouldn't be very helpful at all.

Just beware of the "crippling bug". I've been victim of it on numerous occasions. I've had my head blown clean off and didn't die. I was fighting a Deathclaw and blew it's head off and it didn't die.

I've just checked the wiki, and it's a bug on survival difficulty. Additionally for Xbox, it's also wrong on Normal, removing only 10 instead of 50.

-5 is indeed very little. I still use it because doctors can't remove my rads completely. I was working until recently (maybe last patch), now there's always maybe 1HP that'll remain red.

I think this RP will be difficult enough without playing on survival (which was kind of the idea), so it looks like I'm good then. Thanks.

I think there is a perk that means you don't get crippled anymore?

I thought there was, but I'm having trouble finding it. I know there are some Legendary armor perks that add more resistances to being crippled.

No problem. Your limb damage will be completely eliminated but I still wouldn't let a Deathclaw get too close to you. If you see a Deathclaw you run. Run away fast!
